However, by having a glance at the vogue and drift of the American history, it can come under observation that social norms and culture of United States of America has undergone a radical change in the latter half of the last century. With this change, American women experienced revolutionary variations in the behavior and approach of the general population towards women in an array of problems that includes their freedom powers and liberties (Hewitt, 2002). Family came under contemplation as the most important aspect of the American society in the early years of the twentieth century where matrimony and parenthood were the primary and fundamental elements for the American civilization. During this time, the men in the society played a strong dominant role and reached their zenith in bulldozing the women only to underscore their family and children as their top-most priority (Hewitt, 2002). The trend of marriage at a very early age without finishing the education came under surveillance also became an essential component of their customs and norms. In addition, the women came under coercing that husband and home is the only imperative and vital facets of life and the governing subjects did not consented women to have their dreams, desires, and objectives. The family was an essential component in the American society but large families with many children was another conventional and emblematic component of it (Kendall, 2001). The era of twentieth century portrayed and depicted a single woman in American society as a very abominable woman, while looking at the broader side of the continuum; a single and pregnant woman came under deliberation as utterly and entirely a contemptible and deplorable person by the society where nobody from the common people residing in the neighborhood welcomed her. Nevertheless, due to increasing methods of birth control gave the initiation and rise for the need to develop the proper birth prevention medicines (Kendall, 2001). With the growing necessitate of the American women for the pregnancy prevention medicines in conjunction to the growth, expansion and innovation in the field of science, quite a lot of ways and methods have come under development that can prevent the birth control or contraception in women. In fact, these contraceptive pills have alluded as an emblem for the dramatic change brought in the history of the healthcare (Zonderman & Shader, 2006). With the increasing education level, people are getting more aware, positively responsive and conscious concerning the health care of the women, rather than just thrusting and compelling women for abortion; therefore, quite a few organizations are emerging who facilitates in the learning process of the males and females about the birth control and promotes the premeditated parenthood. According to a lecturer and a professor of sociology, the birth control pills gave the independence and a free will to the women of the American society for the family planning coupled to an extensive and wide-ranging way of thinking about women as being a homemaker and gives birth to children (Zonderman & Shader, 2006). Although, birth control is a leading and principal feature that leaves a deep-seated imprint on to the health conditions of the women and they tend to live a healthier life for a long time. This has provided women with enough independence and authorization that they can make their own selection of decisions of how to form, outline and live their lives. In addition, they also have the power to make up their minds as to how many children they want and when to have a family planning. Moreover, this also offers them with the freedom to attain and achieve education up to level of their choice and utilize that learning and education in their professional careers (Chesler, 2007). The invention of birth control pills even gave the rights to the women to limit the number of children in a safe and protected manner. Furthermore, the questions such as when to have children and how many children to have and the time duration between the two kids were now in the hands of the women to answer and have the privilege to decide (Chesler, 2007). Since the evolution of these birth preventive measures, it has transformed the role of women in the society and has brought tremendous and radical change in their lives and they are now prominent and high-flying figures in the field of education, business world, social community, and in the domain of politics. The adaptation to this change was not simple and an ephemeral occurrence; however, apprehensive and vigilant marketing promotions and advertisements played an imperative and significant role in the acclimatization by the society (Chesler, 2007). There are several disputes and controversial statements by various researchers and experts regarding the risk of developing cancer with the consumption of birth preventive pills. According to recent broadcasted survey analysis by ‘National Cancer Institute’, the women using the birth control pills tend to live longer in comparison to the women who do not intake these pills. In addition, according to a published research paper by the Breast Cancer Foundation, it has come under surveillance that these have the capabilities to fight against the bacteria that cause cancer and several other diseases (Burkman, Schlesselman & Zieman, 2004). While looking at the other end of the spectrum, the studies provide with the fact that while these pills help in providing a shield for ovarian and endometrial cancer, they are one of the leading sources that elevates the probabilities and risk of occurring of breast, cervical and liver cancers. The analysis of these studies concludes that the risk factor increases with the women who tend to use the contraceptive pills for a protracted period of their lives, whereas the women who are not in taking these pills have a lower tendency to fall for these cancer diseases (Burkman & Schlesselman & Zieman, 2004). Another major consequence that the birth control pills brings to the body of the women of which many are unaware and unacquainted with, is the significant and architectural harm on to the brains of the women. The orally administered pills affect the women’s brain adversely by causing expansion and changes in its structure. The gray matter of the brain that comes under association with learning and memory and the region related to the control of sentiments witness an increase in size. The studies provide no evidence on whether the expansion enhances the performance related to effective coordination in women. Therefore, playing with natural processes will eventually cause some harm to the physical body and functioning of the organ (Burkman & Schlesselman & Zieman, 2004).
