The proposed action plan aims to address the main cause of unemployment, domestic violence, anti-social behavior, and health-related issues such as the decrease in the rate of life expectancy, the prevalence of pulmonary and heart diseases as well as mental health issues. As such, the proposed action plan for the first six (6) months in duty includes: (1) the need to strictly prohibit the presence of mining activities in the area; (2) the need to promote and create new job opportunities for the local people; and (3) design and implement effective solutions to The proposed action plan aims to address the main cause of unemployment, domestic violence, anti-social behaviour, and health-related issues such as decrease in the rate of life expectancy, the prevalence of pulmonary and heart diseases as well as mental health issues.

As such, the proposed action plan for the first six (6) months in duty includes: (1) the need to strictly prohibit the presence of mining activities in the area; (2) the need to promote and create new job opportunities for the local people; and (3) design and implement effective solutions to anti-social behaviour. In the process of addressing the root cause of the community problem(s), the community development worker can effectively regain back the usual healthy lifestyle of people living in the area.

 Strictly Prohibit the Presence of Mining Activities in the Area There are quite a lot of valid reasons why mining activities in the area should be prohibited. For instance, Hendryx and Ahern (2008) revealed that the close proximity of residential places to a coal mining increases the risks wherein the local residents could suffer not only from a wide range of pulmonary and heart diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung disease, and cardiopulmonary disease. Specifically, the study of Hendryx (2009) confirms that the idea that living close to the vicinity of coal mining areas increases the residents’ risks of developing chronic respiratory, heart as well as kidney diseases.

In relation to the case of uranium miners, Roscoe et al. (1995) revealed that excessive exposure to mining activities can lead to various pulmonary diseases such as lung cancer, tuberculosis, and pneumoconioses among many others.
