Wellness Project: Health- Satisfying Life A. Introduction Wellness is an active method of becoming responsive of creation of choices leading to a health- satisfying life. It may also be stated as a form of complete social well-being, mental, and physical, and not just lack of disease or weakness. Dimensions of wellness Emotional wellness may be stated as the state of controlling emotions and expressing them applicably and at ease. Lack of emotional wellness can be the most harmful of the known dimensions to our overall wellness. The condition of a person’s emotion can either be positively or negatively influenced by either of these dimensions. Emotions have the authority to control everything in our living: appetite, attitude, and actions. We should then keep our emotions under manageable states (Edlin, 45). Intellectual wellness is stated as the skill of learning, growing from know-how, and utilizing intellectual abilities. One should learn new things and use the new skills to do something one finds stimulating. It will trigger a creative uprising in the brain that won’t like to stop. It is healthy for one to involve in new and exciting undertakings or intellectual matters. Continual development is a big constituent to keeping life from developing an ordinary state. Spiritual wellness is stated as a directorial sense of understanding our values in life. This may include a belief in some merging force. This dimension is at times a debatable topic. It’s significant to discover one that you trust in and assess as your own. This belief will also help one identify and follow one’s own value and entire meaning in life (Hoeger, 71). Social wellness is the state of having satisfaction of interactive contacts. Interactions are the building blocks for upholding concern in the other dimensions. One should identify people one enjoys having company with and participate in social events with them. One should have a lack of what one is interested in. However, one should discover that the scarcity is in range of your power to modify it (Singleto, 19). Physical wellness is demarcated as the skill to do our daily chores with energy. When most individuals reflect about health, they usually consider only physical health. It is the utmost noticeable dimension of wellness, so it’s found to be easiest to gauge. However, physical health relates to greater than what is observable from the outside. It entails body mass index, exercise habits, diet, bone health, etc. If you discover out that you can’t actually do what you wanted to do then, make a change. Evolve, eat healthier food, change your exercise habits, and eat healthier food, and outshine your previous down fall. Keep in mind that, the manner you indulge your body is normally the way it reacts back (Gavin, 81). Each dimension contributes to our personal sense of health or quality of life, and each impacts and overlaps the others. Sometimes, one may seem prominent than others, but disregard of any one dimension for any length of time has adverse effects on overall health. I am interested in wellness as it has ways of which when carefully followed, it helps one to be comfortable in the partaking. For instance, the dimensions of wellness, emotional wellness, gives one ways to overcome stress, while environmental wellness helps in the state of improving the environment to suit the existence of the human race. Other dimensions of wellness will also be used to create a self-sustaining environment for the inhabitants. In today’s living the generations have completely failed in achieving the set targets as a result of financial pressure. Through the growing and changing world, many countries have come up with set targets and goals that are to be attained in a given period of time. This may only be attained through clean and active minds. This calls for wellness. My wellness goal is to drink 8 glasses of water two days a week. I choose this because three quarters of our body fluid is water, hence consistence in taking enough water means that the lost water from our body is timely replenished, which will affect both my physical and emotional wellness (Roberts’s pg. 11). Since I am able to count the number of glasses of water I consume. Setting the goal of drinking 8 glasses of water encourages me to increase my water intake at a reasonable level. If I may decide to go from 2 glasses of water to 8 glasses, it might not be as easy to attain it. Carrying a bottle of about a liter full of water each day will mean I am safe and in line with my goals. The other way to achieve my goal is by taking enough water in advance so as to avoid not reaching my target of at least 8 glass of water two days a week. The other course of action to be taken in line with my set target is setting a reminder on my phone that may be reminding me of the same say after every 2 or so hours. B. Plan My plan of action will include taking at least 8 glasses two days a week. This will be achieved by distributing this intake in three parts. The first part will be in the morning after my normal breakfast taking, followed by lunch time, and finally after supper. Then three sessions will be of at least two glasses each with the remaining two distributed in between breakfast and lunch and the other bit as between lunch and supper. The most common classical issue that may hinder me from achieving my set target will be the fluctuation in weather conditions. Cold weather conditions causes the body water loss to be reduced, hence the need of taking in more water is reduced. Again the cold condition reduces the tendency of taking cold water. Here the daily intake may be affect hence failing to honor my goal. Eating too much may also reduce the intake of water due to the tendency that the stomach is full and water is to be taken later which may lead to forgetting hence interfering with the set goal. In such conditions I will opt to be taking other beverages and drinks rich in water so that, the daily intake is not affected at all. In some other cases, I will be forced to warm the water to be taken to overcome the prevailing cold conditions. On the issue of eating, I will make sure that at least there will be some space left for the water intake. C. Evaluation Week 1 Since it was my first trial the intake did not change at all Week 2 The intake changed were that I managed to increase my intake to 6 glasses Week 3 There was also an increase where I took an average of 7 glasses for the entire week Week 4 The intake was almost at the set target as the number of glasses a day was approximately eight Week 5 There was a slight change in the weather which affected my intake pulling it to 6 six glasses averagely. Week 6 I manage to achieve my target where for the entire week I took 8 glasses a day D. Conclusion The results were worth my effort as I dedicated most of my time in reminding myself about taking the set target of water intake. From the benefits I got, am not intending on leaving the culture. My body functioning completely changed and I always felt fresh and my mind free of emotional and physical wellness. For more on importance of water to human body access, (www.nestle-waters.com). Everybody has a control over his or her health as it needs a small sacrifice, which after time one becomes perfect with what one has set to attain, hence making it a culture.
