Hospital robot Abstract The invention and subsequent use of robots in various disciplines has made work easier and equally improved the quality of the work. In health care, robots are essential in performing detailed operations such as surgeries. The machines have improved the quality of health care globally thus improving the quality of life. This paper examines the different ways in which robots have made health care services more effective thus vouching for their inclusion in daily hospital operations. Introduction Robots refer to mechanical agents controlled by computer programs and used in completing tasks. They vary in sizes and used for specific purposes. Used with artificial intelligence the machines can perfume precise functions repeatedly without tiring. In health care, several hospitals and health facilities in the United States have begun using robots to aid complicated surgeries (Barker 33). The machines run on specific computer programs and follow instructions as fed to them through the computer. Additionally, they operate alongside humans during the operations thus improving the quality of services. Robots have improved the quality of surgical operations and their continued use in the industry will definitely improve the quality of life by improving effectiveness in hospitals as discussed in the essay below. Robots are cost effective Unlike humans, a robot is a capital and an asset bought once by a health facility and can perform several functions throughout the clock. Being machines, robots have minimal requirements provided they are in good condition and accurately programed. They therefore function with minimal supervision thus making the practice less labor intensive. Doctors often tire after detailed operations; this makes the operations precarious as they begin making such mistakes as forgetting some of the equipment in the patients they operate. Additionally, they serve more for their services a feature that makes health services very costly thus unaffordable by many (Ichbiah 11). Robots just as discussed earlier are machines; this implies that provided they are in proper working condition they will deliver the same quality of service without making any mistakes. They maintain the precision and detail as provided in the computer program thus ensuring the same quality of work throughout. This does not only increase profitability to the capitalist investors but will improve the quality of services. They even create more job opportunities as hospitals will hire engineers to manage the machines. Being machines robots will last as long as the investor finds them relevant. Doctors are easily persuaded to leave jobs or to accept better offers by competing firms. Such factors continually affect the quality of health services since they limit reliability in hospitals. Robots just as discussed earlier are assets; they therefore serve the investor for as long as the investor decides to use them. They will however require continuous maintenance and upgrading depending on the nature of the prevailing market factors such as new knowledge. Besides such basic requirements, a robot will serve the investor longer than a human employee may and offer the same quality of services (Bekey and Gaurav 21). Robots are efficient Efficiency and reliability are two fundamental features of operations in the health care industry. The doctors must deliver their services precisely and accurately within the required time in order to save lives. Robots promise and deliver such values thus presenting the possibility to improve the quality of life. Robots are precise since they rely on compute programs. During development, software developers ensure that the program is proven and tested and that it entails the exact measurement and prescription for a procedure. Robots simply follow the program as fed on the computer. They measure the exact lengths and make accurate cuts on the patients’ flesh thus minimizing accidents. Doctors often make surgical mistakes such as wrong cuts resulting from under or over estimations. The robots address such thus preventing an accurate surgery. Being machines, robots portray a level of redundancy that is not achievable in humans. They can perform detailed operations repeatedly without making mistakes unlike humans who would tire and become shoddier. Robots can therefore perform the same operation repeatedly on different patients while maintaining the same precision. Robots are both faster and more orderly. Just as discussed earlier, they rely on computer programs, which indicate the time it takes to perform every task in the operation. This ensures that the machine complete the surgeries in record time unlike humans who are subject to different interruptions (Gifford and Frank 88). Robots offer a platform for knowledge sustenance Robots are unique and provide room for knowledge development. They are engineering masterpieces that incorporate the use of compute’s artificial intelligence to perform complicated tasks. In their nature, they exhibit the extent of human knowledge and future for growth in such. Software manufactures and program developers use existing knowledge to foster the development of better and more efficient knowledge with the aim of making human lives better. The use of computer in health case was previously limited to communication. However, with the use of robots, humans can now combine their innate knowledge and abilities to the redundancy of computers to improve the quality of services in health care. Robots implement the programs as installed in computers thus giving high quality outputs continually. Doctors perform the operations alongside the robots; this provides inexperienced doctors and surgeons with an opportunity to learn from experienced doctors who help develop the programs. A surgeon does not have to carry out the operations physically. They simply feed the procedure on a digital media thus transporting it to a hospital or a health facility located in whichever part of the world provided they have the specific robots. After installing the programs on computers, the robots would complete the tasks thus enabling the inexperienced doctors to learn from both the experienced doctors and the precise robots. The robots will equally require extensive research in order to develop. Through studies and continuous research, it becomes possible to determine better and more efficient robot models that will better service delivery. Engineers and program developers thus work tirelessly developing and trying new programs with the aim of determining new versions of the machines that will better service delivery. This way, the technology inspires and fosters both the existing and new knowledge. Conclusion In brief, robots are servants that are more efficient and promise to revolutionize the health care sector by improving the quality and effectiveness of the service. The technology that relies on computer programs to operate present new ways of overcoming previously evident human flaws. They will make the practice better by increasing the efficiency and by fostering the growth of knowledge both in health care and other related disciplines such engineering (Gray 55).
