Team Work and Motivation in Health Care Organization of Health care team is not just considered as an individual job now. Trends and dimensions have totally shifted about team effort. What is important now is not just if individuals provide health care but it’s how well they provide it (Schyve 2005). Health professionals make a team from the same profession with similar goals supported with skill and knowledge. Most of the health care teams consist of doctors from various specialties, nurses and pharmacists.

Certain principles are important to keep the integrity and strength of team building especially in health care organization. There are the principles that if stressed upon properly would build activities to strengthen health care organization. First of all teams need to work on common grounds and interest which should only be mutual interest of patient and improve facilities for him. An important aspect of success of a good team is the provision and implementation of various team building activities.

Keeping in mind the demands of a health care setting, one major activity that can help strengthen the teamwork and quality of care delivery is to organize meetings. Every health care team should meet on regular basis to discuss and manage the aim of that delegation that is to work for providing the highest levels of quality care to the patient. Moving on, considering the successful outcome of such meetings and gatherings, all the pros and cons should be considered. There need to be certain objectives that should be achieved at the end of session and the leadership should not only maintain a strong relationship among working individuals but also resolve all the conflicts in working environment.

In a health care setting, time is crucial and so is efficiency because the aim is saving the life or quality of life of an individual. There is absolutely no place for negligence and for this matter all the aspects of a successful teamwork should be focused upon such meetings. Probably the most important of all plans would be a strong and effective communication and sharing of professional knowledge among different disciplines. This would not only enable others to understand the problem in a better way but would also brush up person skills of any professional (WHO Patient Safety Curriculum 2008).

Only in this way can meetings of health care team members can bear fruit. Different techniques have been used to improve these skills and to develop better communication and interpersonal relationship among team members. Various techniques have been used and explained by Team STEPPS (2007). They include SBAR, Call out, Check back and handover. It should also be noticed that when different minds are in action on the same topic of interest, disagreements are seen and conflicts do arise. It is the quality of a successful team that these conflicts should be dealt with wisdom and patience.

These objectives can also be achieved when there is good and appropriate professional interaction among the team members as in the meetings.
