Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs) influence healthcare provision in a number of ways, cutting across ethical, legal, financial, social, economic, and political implications (Robinson, 2010). The problem of HAIs in relation to each of the above mentioned variables is critical to address. Solutions to this problem must bring together all the stakeholders in the healthcare sector. This means that HAIs and related problems can actually be solved. These solutions vary across the various parties involved, with each of this party holding an equal chance towards the problem resolution.

HAIs occur in a hospital environment, meaning that there are aiding variables to the realization of this problem. Solution to this problem should focus on the variables that make it more likely for HAIs to occur. Both patients and healthcare providers should collaborative to alleviate favorability of the environment that allows HAIs to thrive. Resolutions to this problem should also focus on the likely implications that they create. Ethical, legal, financial, social, economic, and political implications are realized in the HAIs context (Robinson, 2010).

Every individual that these implications affect can actively constitute a resolution to the underlying problem. In other words, the collaboration of patients and healthcare providers at all levels serve as an adequate source of solutions to the problem of HAIs and subsequent negative implications.Healthcare organizations among other stakeholders in the healthcare sector already run measures and programs that are tailored towards alleviating the problem of HAIs and the implications it poses to the healthcare sector.

In other words, there are some solutions that are already implemented in healthcare organizations. Hospitals and other healthcare facilities run preventative measures to minimize cases of HAIs, which consequently influences the manner in which HAIs implications are dealt with. Creating awareness about HAI and other related infections have exacerbated in the recent times. On the same note, addressing medical errors, HAIs included is not a cheap pursuit. Funds have been mobilized and still continue to be mobilized for healthcare pursuits that relate to medical errors.

Interventions and intensive research into medical errors, and specifically HAIs continue to be undertaken, serving as a critical resolution pursuit to HAI and other medical errors problems. Although these attempts seem to be working, an optimal level of resolution of the underlying problems has not been reached.There are a number of variables in the medical errors context that remain unaccounted for. HAIs among other medical-related errors have not been adequately addressed, creating a favorable ground for the design, formulation and implementation of plans that are tailored towards addressing the underlying problems (Coates, 2004).

All the persons and parties involved work together towards a resolution to the problem. Patients, clinicians, healthcare providers, medical research teams and the entire health sector can collaborate in the pursuit to design a functional and operational plan that addresses medical errors, and specifically HAIs.A hypothetical plan towards addressing the problem is a good start. All the influencing factors would be critical to consider, and then design plan that works favorably with the persons involved in healthcare pursuits.

This plan would have to be designed in such a way that every stakeholder’s role is outlines, highlighting the duties and responsibilities of every single part incorporated in the plan.
