John Doe Some Some Some Scleroderma: an uncommon condition of systemic sclerosis of the skin, leading to tightening and induration of the skin; fibrosis of the organs, vasculature fibrosis especially in the pulmonary vessels, and it can also lead to complications of the GI tract with inflammation and decreased peristalsis.Drug Name: Imatinib (Gleevec)Manufacturer: Novartis PharmaceuticalsApproval Date: Multiple dates, currently in trials for Scleroderma On-Label usage (versus off-label)Drug Class: anti-neoplasticClinical Pharmacology: Protein Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor, inhibits BCR-ABL tyrosine kinase, half life of 18 hours, 40 hours for the metabolite, peak plasma time is 2-4 hours with 98% bioavailability, 95% protein bound, metabolised by CYP3A4; clearance is 8-14L/hr, excreted in the feces and inhibits CYP2D6 and 3A4.

Administration: PO with meals and 8oz waterDosages: 100mg to 600mg depending on treatment usage qD, max 400mg BIDStorage: cool, dry shelf Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moistureContraindications/Precautions: hypersensitivities to any components, screen patients for comorbidities, potential for hypercoagulation, pretreat with heparin, avoid in pregnant females or females wanting to get pregnant.
