Obesity is caused by the storage of excessive fat in the body that causes an increase in weight and disfigures the human body in shape and proportion. Obesity is one of the biggest problems nearly all over the world in the present age. Obesity was never this big an issue as it is today. This is because physical activity in the past was much more than today because man had to solely rely over physical strength to accomplish daily tasks. How is obesity caused? There can be many factors behind the development of obesity. Some of the most common causes of obesity include but are not limited to eating junk food, minimal exercise and other genetic causes. With the advent of mechanized way of life, man has begun to rely on machines and physical activity has declined significantly. In addition to that, the urge to make money and succeed has increased the time in value manifolds. Man has to rush to keep everything going smooth and there is hardly any time left for such activities as cooking or exercise. In such circumstances, junk food seem the most appropriate option to go for since it provides with taste and luxury and above all saves time otherwise consumed in cooking and dish-washing. Besides, junk food has become a necessary part of a luxurious life-style so people specially youngsters fancy junk food. Not only this, the general life-style of the modern age has increased human interaction with technology. Children used to devote sufficient time to outdoor games that helped build their physique and keep them smart in the past. Nowadays, there is so much to explore in the computer world, that children can not manage to find time for outdoor activities. Also, importance of the use of computer can not be underestimated since it is essential in order to remain at par with the changing trends of the modern world. People keep sitting in front of a screen net-surfing for hours and hours and ultimately, put on weight. Long story short, modern life-style has minimized physical exertion for many and that is the fundamental reason of the wide-spread obesity among people of all age. All of these factors have specially caused youngsters to put on weight. Who are the victims of obesity? Obesity is a growing concern particularly among the youth. This is because junk food is the most fundamental cause of obesity and is the most popular among the youngsters. However, obesity can be developed at any age starting from early childhood to old-age. Men and women are equally susceptible to obesity and both genders can be affected by obesity in their own ways. Women are particularly afraid of obesity because they are expected to look slim, smart and beautiful. Beauty is conventionally associated with women which is ruined as women gain obesity because it disfigures their body. Many obese women have difficulty finding partners for themselves as men prefer to marry smart and elegant ladies. All jewels and elegant outfits become meaningless for a woman as the beautifying effect is nullified by the obesity they carry. Similarly, obese men may find it difficult to perform on jobs that require physical mobility. Obese man get fatigued very soon and often loose breath when assigned hectic tasks. This endangers their employment and their susceptibility to termination is increased. Other men who are already unemployed have difficulty in getting employed because their obesity speaks of their inefficiency and laziness. Like women, finding a partner is also difficult for obese bachelors. Obese individuals hesitate to make public appearances in extreme circumstances because extreme obesity makes them susceptible to mimicry. It not only ruins the social life of an individual but also has a great negative impact on the personal life of the obese individual. Many obese people do not take the problem on their nerves. However, some people might be too sensitive towards the mockery offered by the public and might suffer from social exclusion as a result. Physical fitness is a matter of big concern in the present age specifically because so much emphasis is placed on fashion, style and glamour on domestic, national and international level. Style is valued and good looks are appreciated. People are quite sensitive towards the comments they receive from the people they interact with in daily life, and hence, take measures to present themselves to the public in the best possible way. Obesity renders the wealth meaningless for fashion conscious obese people because money can buy clothes and accessories, but not beauty. Solution: Overview: Given the severity of the consequences of obesity, it has been taken quite seriously and various methods have been devised to combat the curse, that were not known in the past. One of the most popular and effective means of ridding obesity is liposuction. Liposuction: Although there are various ways that are helpful in fighting off the obesity, one technique that is certain to bring the expected results is surgery. Understanding the fact that it is not possible for many obese people to take out time for exercise from their busy schedule, scientists have come up with such techniques that do not require the patients to undergo lengthy physical exercises or tough dietary plans. Nowadays, it is possible for an individual to achieve a figure, very close to if not exactly his/her dream-figure at any age. The technique conventionally employed to achieve this is known as liposuction. Introduced in 1974, liposuction is a technique to contour the body by extracting fat cells from the body with the help of a stainless steel tube known as the cannula. (Einstein Industries, Inc. 2010). Since 1974, liposuction has been largely employed as the fundamental means to get rid of excessive fat and the technique has been refined and modified to make it as user friendly and comfortable as possible. Nowadays, liposuction has been improved to the extent that fat can be extracted from the body while the patient is completely awake and is in full senses. Patients can even see the surgery happen and still not feel a bit of pain. The tube sucks the fat cells out of the body and hence, the contours are redefined. Liposuction is indeed, the quickest and the most effective way to get rid of obesity. Results derived from the adoption of technique are permanent and side effects are almost negligible. The technique might occasionally result in severe damages if the surgery goes unsuccessful because of the incapability of the surgeon. In other cases, patient is susceptible to infections if the instruments used were not formerly sterilized. However, in a vast majority of cases, surgery goes successful. The results are so promising that many obese people consider the technique worth the risk. It is indeed, quite safe. That is why, liposuction is commonly used by many celebrities all over the world to reduce their body fat since they are visualized as ideals, and maintaining that image earns them their bread and butter. Who should go for liposuction? Not every person who is obese should adopt liposuction as a means to get rid of fat. Only those people, who have a normal weight and strong immune system qualify for the technique. It is the most suitable technique for those who are not totally obese, but want to cut down the fat from specific body areas as thighs, tummy or chest. Gynecomastia is a condition in which men develop excessive fat on their chest that makes it look like that of women. Many men suffering from gynecomastia go for liposuction as they have to get the excessive fat removed only from their chest. Limitations of liposuction: Despite the magical tendency of liposuction to redefine the body contours without any pain, it is not always the most rational means of fighting obesity. Whether the results will conform to expectations of the patient depends upon the patient’s age, type of skin, weight and internal immune system. Although the patient derives the intended results in a vast majority of cases, yet it might not always be possible to entertain the patient’s dream-figure due to his/her poor health or weakness of immune system. In extreme cases, removing the fat alone does not serve the purpose unless portions of skin are also removed. Old patients might not be able to bear the agony and complications associated with the procedure. Why liposuction? Liposuction can be trusted as the most useful technique because it is a form of surgery, which is essentially a manual treatment of the problem. One does not have to wait for months to loose one or two pounds as would have happened in case one had chosen not to go for surgery. Tough dietary plans recommended by dieticians are often too difficult to stick to and take too long to show results. Also, weight lost through dieting and exercise can be regained because unlike liposuction, the fat cells are not removed from the body and the patient retains the tendency to become fat upon alteration of diet or compromise on exercise. Results attained through liposuction are prominent and ever-lasting. Therefore, all patients of obesity, who have the ability to undergo the surgery as per the factors mentioned above, should choose this safely to rid themselves of their obesity.
