Amongst the multitude of management styles, it is pertinent to recognize the style most suited to oneself and if necessary evolve one’s own style as the years pass. In my opinion, the responsibilities of a Manager are multifarious including the ability to create a fine working environment where the team members are motivated to excel in their own areas of work, providing necessary resources, maintain the lines of communication and finally, ensure that the team is contributing positively towards the overall growth of the organization.

The team should be inspired to develop a positive, coherent work culture which can take up any challenge on the work front and to have a sense of commitment and belongingness required for the betterment of the organization they are working for. It is essential that the manager maintains a particular management philosophy with only marginal changes, as his style evolves, displaying consistency in practices so as to ensure that his team members understand his style of functioning. One, it enabled communication across the board cutting all barriers. Secondly, it provided the platform for innovativeness and mutual support amongst the team members. These meetings have also played a vital role in keeping the team together. In addition, I firmly believe in utilizing technology for enhancing productivity. Though it is obvious that technology is not the panacea for all problems, right use of technology would enable the team to work better, faster and more efficiently to implement a well thought out solution.

The use of computer networks for data collation, transfer, analysis and information security has enabled the team to both speed up various processes and also implement a few processes that were previously not feasible (AHIMA, 2012). The arrival of high speed networks have also enabled video conferencing which is widely used in our organization, saving valuable resources. Delegation of tasks and responsibility is vital to growth of an individual and the organization. The growth begins in mind of the manager who has the confidence and the courage of conviction in delegating the job.

The growth displayed by the sub-ordinates is the ability to take the task head-on and execute them. When both the manager and the sub-ordinate succeed, then the organization grows to a whole new level of functioning, where the manager would now have sufficient time for planning the future course of the
