However, in 2009, more people who got diagnosed tested positive with HIV. Additionally, in comparison with the USA, Africa is among the world harshest when it comes to HIV infections. It is estimated that 1.5 million people live with HIV and around 1.2 million people pass on when it develops to AIDS. In both countries, USA and Kenya, most transmissions of HIV are during unprotected heterosexual sex encounters, the main transmission route for men being male-to-male sexual relations and sharing of sharp objects by drug addicts Almost 30 years into the HIV epidemic, studies show that it is taking a heavy toil in the world; this is because the world is facing extraordinary challenges, while dealing with the virus.

For instance, the government requires much more money or funds to provide its citizens with essential HIV prevention services, and it is almost evident that the government cannot essentially provide the services due to their limited resources. As a result, new infections arise because of lack of essential HIV prevention services. Additionally, this will contribute to the increase of infected persons due to the increase in the world’s population and the unavailability of funds by the government.

Similarly, as more people continue living with HIV, the number of infected persons also increases.. In comparison, individuals having the ailment in Kenya are higher, as compared to USA. This is because, Kenya being a third world country, its economic status is lower as compared to USA. By this, the Kenyan government is unable to cater for the ever-growing population. However, this is due to its limited funds and resources to contain the ailment.

In 2009, the general funding amounted to $680 million, and the USA government donated a higher percentage of the money (Avert). This shows the USA is more developed and can at least handle more cases of the virus than Kenya. It has control of its growing population, and its economic status is higher as compared to the Kenyan government. The government websites have always updated people on the current statistics of the virus and its future trend. It is also used to create awareness to people, and this helps reduce the number of infections in the world.

HIV transmission is possible in three ways, mother to child transmission, which takes place during labor, during birth and by breastfeeding. If a pregnant mother is positive, then the unborn child is prone to have the
