2. Description of the importance of problem and its consequences: There are some cases in which cardiovascular disease is associated with obesity. Obesity is another disease that is associated with the people’s lifestyle although there are some noted cases that it may also be genetic in nature. However, what is clear in this case is that it is evident that there are some remarkable cases that could prove that obesity could be a lifestyle disease leading further to cardiovascular disease (Formiguera and Canton, 2004).
In 1998, the American Heart Association declared that obesity is a central cause of cardiovascular disease (Eckel, 2011). There are many studies conducted on obesity and its association with cardiovascular disease. However, these studies are recommending further critical evaluation about the subject matter (Formiguera and Canton, 2004). In line with this, it is interesting to find out the impact of the person’s age in acquiring obesity which eventually specify the age when cardiovascular disease is gained.
This study needs to find out population of people who are experiencing obesity and are also noted to have cardiovascular disease. The proponent will conduct interview with them in order to find out the history of their obesity and cardiovascular disease. . However, obesity is also found associated with diabetes and hypertension (Lavie, Milani & Ventura, 2009). This implies that obesity is also associated with cardiovascular disease. In particular, obesity is strongly linked with risks for coronary heart disease, atrial fibrillation and heart failure (Zalesin et al., 2011). Based in the above information, it is without question that the strong association of obesity with cardiovascular disease is a significant health concern.
This makes obesity a disease knowing that it has significant association with common cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of death. It has become the leading cause of death in Latin America and Caribbean (Pramparo et al., 2006). It has become the leading cause of death among elderly. Considering that the population for elders is increasing, cardiovascular disease is expected to rise (Jackson & Wenger, 2011). Since cardiovascular disease is strongly associated with age, it is therefore important to understand the age of developing obesity and even the unhealthy lifestyle behaviors of individuals.
As stated earlier, these are essential factors that are said to contribute to an individual’s future in obtaining cardiovascular disease. In this regard, it is important to understand that cardiovascular disease does not just happen because of age, but it is basically due to unhealthy lifestyle behaviors of an individual. Considering that obesity is due to unhealthy lifestyle behaviors except in some genetic cases, cardiovascular disease may not be impossible to be linked with it. Age of developing obesity In the United States, many children are developing obesity at early age,
