For the purpose of this report, there is a need for the conduction of research and for the evaluation of literature in order to study the issues that has led to these circumstances. When the patient was brought into the hospital, the ambulance personnel on duty were Peter Frost, the ambulance attendant and John Smith, the driver in charge. The study of issues and the circumstances helps the report to focus on the areas that need improvements and investigate further about the two employees Frost and Smith. The analysis of the study will help in pinpointing the appropriate recommendations that need to be taken. The complaint from the patient’s relatives reflected the general lack of assessment such as making the patient walk till the ambulance in his terrible condition along with not providing analgesia or aspirin to him. 12 lead ECG that needed to be undertaken were not done. It is difficult to make judgment only on the basis of the complaints received from the patient’s wife, the statements of the two crew members. Why did this experienced crew make so many apparently serious errors in the treatment of their patient, Mr Patel? In the case of Mr Patel, though he was suffering from a significant inferior AMI (Acute Myocardial Infarction), the crew including one paramedic (John smith) and a Technician (Peter Frost) failed to identify the risk and were unable to provide emergency services to the critical patient. Nobody can justify the performance of the Ambulance crew. Several vital factors have to be discussed with this issue such as poor management, lack of expertise, long night working hours, heavy work loads, elements of poor communication and team work, lack of authority as well as human bias. Management of the particular ambulance service of NHS trust, which appoints paramedical staffs and technicians, often seen in the cases of emergency, have to be given proper attention and training right from the time of recruitment. Qualified and efficient staff is the blessings of any institution. By choosing potential candidates and providing them with proper training and working environment, bringing them up for the growth and image of organization are the primary functions of any organization that have long term vision. One of the crew members John Smith, a paramedic, can provide advanced level care in medical emergency situations. Paramedics are like field doctors often seen with ambulance technicians or an emergency care assistants.
