Research the Geology of China (Beijing) Geology is a term that refers to the science that deals with the study of the physical structure and substances of the earth. It examines its history and the processes that take place in that particular part of the earth. The study involves investigation of the type of organisms living in the area and their adaptations to their living environment. Individuals who engage in the process of exploring the planet are known to geologists. They carry more research to know the history of a particular part of the globe or the world as a whole. Geology is, therefore, an activity that involves the study of two characteristics of the earth. It includes the study of earth materials and the study of earth’s history. My paper focuses on the geology of Beijing. I will commence by providing a belief description of the history China as a whole. Finally, I will describe a proper description of the history of Beijing, the type of people living in the town as well as its geographical characteristics. China is a vast country whose geological structure can be divided into different portions. The country occupies the loess plateau, the Quaternary loess deposit, and the alluvial soil in the east of the country. Beijing is a town that borders the alluvial lands of China. The most alluvial type of soil starts from the Eats China plains to the Yangzi River Delta, around the igneous Shandong highlands and the peninsula. The southern part of river Yangzi is occupied with mountains full of deposits of sedimentary rocks and Yangzi craton. The alluvial Sichuan Bay is surrounded by mountains, the Qinling Mountains to the north and the Himalaya to the west and southwest. Most of the northeast China or Manchuria is fully occupied with alluvial plains, but the border that extends to Korea contains a large number of mountains. The China Geological Survey made an investigation of the geological information of the whole countries to determine its international cooperation and coordination competence. The board constructed a survey to meet the dissemination of public geosciences knowledge and information as well as promotion of the sustainable development of the national economy and society. The study involved activities such as project application, designation, implementation, data processing and geoscience research activities to the public(Wang, 124).. The information is found useful in the description of the description of the historical development of Beijing as well as giving more knowledge social-economic aspects of the people living in the town. The capital town of China is Beijing. The past information of this city traces back to about twenty-seven thousand years ago. Research shows that the first people to live in the region were found in the in the groove of Dragon Bone Hill near the village of Zhoukoudia in Fangshan District. The region is the current homeland of the Peking man. Fossils of Homo erectus were found in these caves. Archeologists reports that there were Neolithic settlements throughout the municipality that include Wangfujing. These people stay in the lower side of Beijing. Ji is known to be the first city-state that is located to the south of the present Beijing West Railway Station. Beijing became the capital city of China after the First Emperor Unified China. China reunified during the Sui Dynasty. The coming together of the country made Beijing become the northern station of the Grand Canal. During the Tang Dynasty, Beijing became the military frontier command center for the whole country. During the An-Shi Rebellion and the turmoil of the late Tang, the local military leader identified their short-lived Yan Dynasties and renamed the city as Yanjing. The town was also referred as the Yan- Capital. Tang declined in 1938. The later Jin abandoned the entire northern frontier to the Khitan Liao Dynasty. The city was later renamed as Nanjing or the Southern Capital. Other ancient descriptions of Beijing can be traced back to the period of Liao (Zhang, 84). His time declined in 1123 and surrendered the city to the Song Dynasty. It retook the city after two years. Many other empires contributed to the development of Beijing. The Ming Dynasty used Beijing as its capital city. The training camps for the army of this emperor were centralized in this town. Beijing became Shuntian in 1403. The Qing dynasty used Beijing as the China’s sole capital. The empire used the existing buildings of the Ming dynasty as well as making little modifications to the original situation of Beijing. During the Qing Empire, there was varied number of revolutions that made acceptance of Yuan as the president of the new Republic of China. The president maintained the capital city of China in Beijing. It retained the territory of the country until his death in 1915. In 1950s, Beijing experienced a significant period of development with large number of industries in the west and the residential neighborhoods in the northern part of the city. Most of the parts were altered during the construction of the Beijing Subway and the 2nd Ring Road Construction. From the above descriptions, it shows that Beijing emerged as a result of the development of many empires in China. Almost ninety percent of the empires made in China used Beijing as their capital city. They chose the city because of its reliable resources for the development and management of an empire. The city is more centralized than any other city in China. As the capital town for China, It is situated at the tip of the roughly triangular North China Plain. The region opens to the south and east of the city. The Northwestern part of the city is surrounded by the Jundu Mountains (Zhang, 84).. The western side has the western hills. The Great War in China was built on a flat land to defend against nomadic incursions from steppes. The various rivers flowing in the location of Beijing includes Chaobai, Yongding, Juma and all the tributaries of the Hai River system. The town is near the Miyun reservoir on the upper side of river Chaobai (Wang, 124). The reservoir is the greatest in the city. It is the northern terminus of the Grand Canal to the Hangzhou. The canal was built in around 1,400 years ago. It was made to create a transportation route and the South-North Water Transfer project. The used, in this case, originates from Yangtze River Bay. The urban area of Beijing is found on the plains in the south-central of the municipality dwells in a relatively small but an expanding piece of the city. The city extends to other regions in the Ring Roads. The second constructed Ring Road traces the old city walls, and the Sixth Ring Road connects satellite towns in the surrounding suburbs. The central position of Beijing is mainly the Tiananmen and the Tian’anmen square. The climatic conditions of this municipality are influenced by the geographical features in the region. It is characterized by hot, humid summers in the East Asian monsoon. The climate of the Municipality is mainly characterized by cold, windy, dry winters that imitate the effects of the vast Siberian anticyclone. The municipal also experiences periods of spring and autumn. The temperature 0f the region has very low-temperature variations. Being the capital city of the country, the residents of Beijing includes the local citizens of China and other people from all the countries in the world. High flows of foreigners in the municipality as been influenced by the globalization of the business activities and other economic activities. People travel to Beijing for political and cultural purposes. Many go there to fulfill their spirit of adventures. Others go there to pursue their education activities in the learning institutions such as the University of Beijing. The idea obtained from the study of the geology of Beijing helps us to understand the factors behind the level of civilization of the town. As a resident of Beijing, one can predict the behavior of the Earth Systems and the Universe. The knowledge from geological surveys helps in understanding the processes for conserving the environment and its agricultural productivity. It equips a learner with knowledge of predicting and explaining the weather changes that occur in our area of residence. A student can determine the balance between society’s demand for natural resources and the importance of maintaining a healthy ecosystem. Studying the geology of our homes helps to develop natural resources in a way that enables safeguarding our environment as well as maintaining the quality of the natural resources such as water.
