The suburbs in America developed from increased manufacturing areas during the 19th century. The development of such industries attracted a working population consisting majorly of immigrants. As such, many upper class populations relocated to other less populated areas away from cities with such industries. A suburb development acts as both a problem and a natural process in America.

The logic behind the relocation of the middle class population originates from the noise and mayhem created by the manufacturing industries. At the same time, the relocation served to explore other land and create space for more developments and city expansions. The move by the American government to push investments away from the central cities in the 19th century is a justification of a problematic scenario. An introduction of high housing tax rates proved homeownership as an alternative to wealthy Americans.
