Diffusion Diffusion can be referred to as the process by which a certain characteristic spreads across from one place toanother via space over a period of time. It is also known as a process of dissemination. Diffusion as a process causes different cultural customs and ideas to spread to different places. Diffusion ahs made the world to be more culturally diverse. There are different types of diffusion which include; relocation, contagious, stimulus and hierarchical.
The North Africa and the Southwest Asia are considered as the great ancient civilizations in the world basing on its basins and river valleys. This is a region with the three major sources of religions as Christianity, Judaism and Islam. In this realm Islam is the most recent religion to arise. This religion has transformed, energized and unified a vast region extending up to Europe. Boundaries in this realm comprise transition zones. This realm too has witnessed diffusion of political uprisings that was aimed at ousting autocratic regimes. This realm is very diverse in terms of culture hearths were the region is the centre of civilization, source of innovations, ideas and ideologies that has changed other parts of the world. Culture in this region has diffused to a great extend and to other areas.
Contagious diffusion is a more rapid and a wide spread form of diffusion that spreads very fast through a population. It may start with one person or from one place to others. The spread of Islam in the North Africa and Southwest Asia clearly demonstrates contagious diffusion as it only started in one village then spread to the other village and across other parts of the word. The former uprising in Libya, Tunisia and Egypt also started with a few people in one region but spread throughout the country.
Hierarchical diffusion can be referred to as the spread of an idea from one individual(s) or power or nodes of stamped authority to other places or persons. This diffusion may result to import identities in a society like elite persons or political leaders. This type of diffusion can be depicted from the spread of Islam after kings, chiefs and other high profile officials were converted to Islamic. They then propagated the acquired faith downwards via their bureaucracies even to the far-flung subjects.
Relocation diffusion can be referred to as the dissemination of idea(s) through physical movement of persons from region to region. In this type of diffusion migrants can carry innovations, ideas or viruses from source to far places. Islam majorly spread through movement of people through crusades and as they were fleeing from the Jews during the holy war.

Diffusion of Innovations Theory

... that it is useful or not (Diffusion of innovations theory 2012, Rogers 1983). Rogers invented a graphical curve by doing some mathematical calculations for different types of consumers of the innovation and the level of market share with respect to that particular innovation. The consumer curve takes an inverted parabolic shape as it starts from the innovators which are very less amongst the total population, i.e., only about 2.5% of the entire group. Then come those who are early adopters of the innovation and they are too in less amount, i.e., 13.5% of the entire population. Then come the early majority or late adopters who are greater in number since the diffusion of innovation is in the air, i.e., 34%. Also, the late majority is 34...

Diffusion and network effects

It starts with Innovators, who are the educated, risk oriented, information seeking people and who like to try new experiences. These roughly comprise of 5% of the population (Davidoff and Kleiner, 1991; Dewett, Whittier and Williams,, 2007). Next, are the early adopters, who are educated young and popular people and may be opinion leaders in their groups (David, 1985). Next are the early majority who are cautious and wait out to see how new products are reviewed by the early adopters. The early majority consist of a large number of people and these are also instrumental in propelling the late majority (who are older, conservative and low on social activity) into adopting the technology. The Laggards are the remaining people who...

Diffusion MRI Stimulation theory

... the accuracy and quality of image that is obtained. Measurement of Diffusion Information: The reasons that emphasis upon the significance of diffusion information essentially state that even when images have been acquired, the full extent of information cannot be extracted unless other procedures are initiated. Measurement of diffusion information can be conducted in for both the types of diffusion, that is isotropic diffusion and anisotropic diffusion. In case of isotropic diffusion, the direction or movement progresses to a single uniform point which is why the ADC in this scenario remains the same. On the other hand, for anisotropic diffusion the number of axes required amounts to at least three as in this system one particular...

Diffusion Magnetic Resonance Imaging

This process happens slowly through time, as the result of the combination of Brownian motion among particles along with the interaction of the properties of the surrounding medium, which in living systems mostly consists of water (Moritani, Ekholm, and Westesson, 2009). Through Brownian motion the particles become dispersed outward, and the speed of the dispersion can give observers information on the properties of the medium given the knowledge of what kind of particles was dispersed in it. Also, particles will continue to diffuse freely until an area of restriction called barrier is reached, which could affect the measurement of the diffusion rates through compromising the accuracy of the distance travelled by the diffused part...

Diffusion and osmosis

... or if they are fat-soluble like some vitamins, fats, oxygen and carbon dioxide. Osmosis is a kind of simple diffusion which refers to the movement of water molecules across a selectively permeable membrane from an area of higher to a lower concentration. Facilitated diffusion, on the other hand, is the movement of molecules across a semipermeable membrane with the help of carrier proteins to facilitate the transport of larger molecules such as glucose, to make it available for cell consumption. The second type of passive transport process, called filtration, is defined as the process by which water and solutes are forced through a membrane by fluid or hydrostatic pressure (Marieb, 2003). Such kind of transport process is exemplified...

Ways to Implement Change within an Organization

This paper will discuss some of the reasons why people are against change. It will also discuss some constructive ways and give tips for managers on how to move people towards a more accepting position that will be more beneficial to the company’s changing times.
Kegan and Lahey (2001) wrote that the reasons why employees resist change may be because of several reasons. These employees could be scared when new leaders are assigned to them and control is passed on to new people. They are forced to be proficient in an entirely different ability even though most of the time old dogs cannot be taught new tricks. It is hard enough to master the current skills needed for their jobs but to learn even more new skills can be dau...

Major Factors of World Trade Globalisation

The process of migration and technology transfer use the term globalisation to refer to national economies’ integration into a global economy. When economists use this term, then by this word he wants to imply a removal of national barriers for facilitating the flows of goods and services, labour and capital from one country to another. (Bhagwati, 2004; Steger, 2003)
The process of globalisation is actually made up of two phases. In the first phase, most of the countries are integrated economically. The principal action that is conducted during this first phase is to make negotiations of world trade by reducing protectionism. In this phase, all products get access to a wide global market. The second phase of the globali...

Ways of Knowing

“How do I Know” is a question that is in the mind of every individual. There are various ways of knowing like a) emotion, b) reason, c) perception and d) language. Out of these choices, I would try to justify my claim of knowledge from the perspective of ‘Reason’ and ‘Emotion’. Knowledge can be of different levels; first-hand knowledge and second-hand knowledge. The former one refers to knowledge that one gains through observation or direct experience. Second-hand knowledge is an indirect way of acquiring knowledge. For instance, you might know about a place since you visited it; you may have knowledge about it from a first-hand account of a person who has visited the place.

The PCI DSS was created primarily created by Master card and Visa but later on, we're joined by three other premium credit card companies to form an independent council to counter online credit card fraud. The American Express, discover financial services and JCB were the three other companies that decided to take an active part in the stand taken by Visa and MasterCard. To understand the effectiveness of PCI DSS it becomes crucial to understand its core functionality and the reasons it was devised. The objective of PCI DSS is to build a secure network, protect cardholder data, maintain a vulnerability management program and implement strong access control measures (Wright .2008.Page11). In today’s time when security has bec...

Information and Communications Technology in the Primary School

ICT has evolved to become an inseparable and accepted part of everyday life activities and it continues to extend its control over people’s work, social and personal lives.
Even when the significance and importance of ICT at school have been amply emphasized, there is still a high proportion of obsolete hardware being used in the classrooms with the results that children often meet industry-standard hardware and software at home rather than at schools. The use of ICT in school is also very variable with its frequent use in some schools and its nonexistent in others. During the last thirty years, there has been a lack of clarity over the educational objectives for ICT, this problem is clear from the shortages of equipmen...

Management Information System of Linux

As emphasized by GB direct (n.d.) “one of the principal reasons for the growth of open-source software is its affinity with this business model” (par. 8). The support applications specifically come in the form of “helpdesk advice and diagnostic research and direct intervention to diagnose and resolve problems” (GB direct, n.d., par. 24).

The helpdesk application of open source software “backs-up and extends in-house resources when they are approaching their limits” (GB direct, n.d., par. 26). Even unskilled staff or personnel without any technical knowledge of software applications are assisted by the program to back-up relevant files. This support mechanism of open-source software ca...

Can One Size Fit All When It Comes to Global Accounting Standards

The practice of reporting accounting techniques and a company’s accounts has therefore to be the most homogeneous for a series of reasons, but mostly to facilitate and improve the transparency of markets. These are two main issues in what relates the international financial reporting practices: the homogeneity of these practices and the key actors to which this convergence matters most; the international users of accounting reports. One can argue that the more transparent and homogeneous these international reporting systems are, the more transparent markets become and the process of investment internationally is eased.

Despite the necessity of a highly integrated and converged international reporting system, it s...

The Concept of Corporate Personality

An explanation of these concepts is of the essence and an evaluation of the courts has approached the separate legal entity and the time times when they have lifted the veil of incorporation is necessary. The current position can only be determined after a detailed background of these is made. The underlying principle of separate legal entity states that a company is a separate entity from its shareholders meaning that the company can sue or be sued in its own name, can hold property and be liable to debts of the company. From this principle evolved the notion of limited liability of shareholders, that is the shareholders of the company are held liable only to the extent of unpaid amounts on shares and thus the company retains all...

Diffusion of Responsibility

...Diffusion of Responsibility What is a pro-social behavior? Pro-social Behavior can also be tagged as a ‘helping’ behavior in which a person makes an attempt to help another person, with no thought of getting rewarded in return. He just feels like making this move without any specific intention. Many factors though lead to such helping behaviors of the individuals. When a person thinks that one day he might end up getting involved in the same situation he gives a thought and help a person in the most unselfish way, with the above thought in his mind (Columbus 2005). This is known as ‘reciprocity norm’. Such social norms are the reason of getting admiration from unknown people who are in your surroundings. There are certain situations...
