Diffusion Diffusion can be referred to as the process by which a certain characteristic spreads across from one place toanother via space over a period of time. It is also known as a process of dissemination. Diffusion as a process causes different cultural customs and ideas to spread to different places. Diffusion ahs made the world to be more culturally diverse. There are different types of diffusion which include; relocation, contagious, stimulus and hierarchical.
The North Africa and the Southwest Asia are considered as the great ancient civilizations in the world basing on its basins and river valleys. This is a region with the three major sources of religions as Christianity, Judaism and Islam. In this realm Islam is the most recent religion to arise. This religion has transformed, energized and unified a vast region extending up to Europe. Boundaries in this realm comprise transition zones. This realm too has witnessed diffusion of political uprisings that was aimed at ousting autocratic regimes. This realm is very diverse in terms of culture hearths were the region is the centre of civilization, source of innovations, ideas and ideologies that has changed other parts of the world. Culture in this region has diffused to a great extend and to other areas.
Contagious diffusion is a more rapid and a wide spread form of diffusion that spreads very fast through a population. It may start with one person or from one place to others. The spread of Islam in the North Africa and Southwest Asia clearly demonstrates contagious diffusion as it only started in one village then spread to the other village and across other parts of the word. The former uprising in Libya, Tunisia and Egypt also started with a few people in one region but spread throughout the country.
Hierarchical diffusion can be referred to as the spread of an idea from one individual(s) or power or nodes of stamped authority to other places or persons. This diffusion may result to import identities in a society like elite persons or political leaders. This type of diffusion can be depicted from the spread of Islam after kings, chiefs and other high profile officials were converted to Islamic. They then propagated the acquired faith downwards via their bureaucracies even to the far-flung subjects.
Relocation diffusion can be referred to as the dissemination of idea(s) through physical movement of persons from region to region. In this type of diffusion migrants can carry innovations, ideas or viruses from source to far places. Islam majorly spread through movement of people through crusades and as they were fleeing from the Jews during the holy war.

Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI)

.... 949). Experts opine that the DTI technique can be effectively deployed to examine the three dimensional architecture of the skeletal muscle and get exact information regarding muscle damage. The DTI based muscle fibre tracking method has the potential to reconstruct muscle architecture and, hence, it can be considered as one of the most potential inventions of medical science. As Sinha and Sinha (2011) point out, one of the most significant advantages of this technique is that the diffusion tensor images have the potential to support larger volume imaging without centring and repositioning the magnet value. In case of elongated structures like muscle fibres, the...

Respiration and Diffusion

..., oesophagus and the throat. The initial phase of swallowing can be able to be controlled; however, the moment food is inside our throat, the nervous system controls its movements. It is then taken to the oesophagus. The food then gets into the stomach where the swallowed food is stored, it also mixes the food, liquid and the digestive juice the stomach produces. The food is then emptied into the small intestine. The food that is digested is then absorbed through the walls of the intestines. The waste products move to the large intestines, where they stay for a few days until they are removed from one’s body in the form of feaces. In conclusion, we find that oxygen and carbon dioxide get into and out of...

...out on chat; it is now a part of your social existence and it has the potential of impacting your professional and personal life. And this perception is brought about by the fact that ‘everybody‘ who could possibly matter to your professional growth (or personal life) is on Facebook and can access some information on you. This perception added tremendous value to Facebook and created further network effects as more people want to join in and not miss out on what’s happening (Woodside and Biemans, 2005). Another way network effects have played a role in the case of diffusion of Facebook is the diffusion of online advertising. Since, online advertising was...

Plasma Membrane and Diffusion

...they would be rejected when they move into the hydrophobic region of the membrane.Channel diffusion is a type of passive transport which involves channel proteins in which the molecule move through an open, aqueous pore and it can be regulated. Charged particles and ions can pass through the pore [Yos07].Facilitated diffusion as a type of passive transport that depends solely on protein carriers that is: molecules moves along with the carrier. Conclusion The plasma membrane makes use of transport mechanisms that involve biological membranes which include: Passive diffusion, Trans membrane protein channels, Endocytosis and...

Measurement of Diffusion Information: The reasons that emphasis upon the significance of diffusion information essentially state that even when images have been acquired, the full extent of information cannot be extracted unless other procedures are initiated. Measurement of diffusion information can be conducted in for both the types of diffusion, that is isotropic diffusion and anisotropic diffusion. In case of isotropic diffusion, the direction or movement progresses to a single...

...to the application of either strong or longer diffusion gradients, leading to images with more detail and information due to extended echo times that decrease signal to noise ratio. B-values also have an effect on the weightings of the images generated through dMRI. Achieving Different Weightings In order to provide contrasts within the tissue images, signals are changed or weighted, in such a way that T2-weighted images show sharp contrasts between different types of tissues, depending on the b-value (s/mm2) or degree of diffusion weighting used (strong or weak magnetic diffusion gradient) (Jones, 2011, p.84). ...and other nutrients from the soil by root hairs in plants. The following experiments demonstrate these basic concepts in action, and how distribution of substances in two regions with different concenration gradients occurs. - Materials In order to determine osmolarity of a potato and how it is effected by the process of diffusion, a simple experiment is performed. 7 cylindars are carved out from a potato, and then cut to a uniform size of 5 cm. One very important aspect of this experiment are the 6 sucrose solutions, ranging from 0.1 to 0.6 molars, 100 ml each, and placed separately in 6 250-ml beakers together with 100 ml of distilled water. A sensitive balance is...

...or if they are fat-soluble like some vitamins, fats, oxygen and carbon dioxide. Osmosis is a kind of simple diffusion which refers to the movement of water molecules across a selectively permeable membrane from an area of higher to a lower concentration. Facilitated diffusion, on the other hand, is the movement of molecules across a semipermeable membrane with the help of carrier proteins to facilitate the transport of larger molecules such as glucose, to make it available for cell consumption. The second type of passive transport process, called filtration, is defined as the process by which water and solutes are forced through a membrane by fluid or...

Diffusion of innovation theory

...was able to lead the Reformation and evangelize to the masses. The Reformation was a time of dramatic religious dissent during which various church groups broke away from the dominating Catholic Church. Without the Guttenberg printing press and its ability to put out large masses of important information, it is highly doubtful that Martin Luther’s reforms would have been successful. The mass media was the most effective evangelization tool at that period (Crosby, 2012). Likewise in the modern day era, the use of social media and technology to evangelize is a very bold move. People have quick access to the Bible and Quran through the internet and can access them using their smartphones. Although...

Diffusion of Responsibility

...Diffusion of Responsibility What is a pro-social behavior? Pro-social Behavior can also be tagged as a ‘helping’ behavior in which a person makes an attempt to help another person, with no thought of getting rewarded in return. He just feels like making this move without any specific intention. Many factors though lead to such helping behaviors of the individuals. When a person thinks that one day he might end up getting involved in the same situation he gives a thought and help a person in the most unselfish way, with the above thought in his mind (Columbus 2005). This is known as ‘reciprocity norm’. Such social norms are the reason of getting admiration from unknown people who are in...
