Argument The author mainly gives her own opinions about the whole topic by analyzing the whole issue from different readings. This can also be seen from the fact that she uses the first person since she is mainly giving her own view about the whole issue. For instance, she states that “In this paper, I argue that racial inequalities …” The use of the first person in this case is majorly to show that the author is trying to give her own idea about the whole issue alongside other ideas that have been given previously. In addition, she challenges the views given by other different works written about closely related issues. For instance, when she says, “In contrast to epiphenomenal approaches, I suggest…” it is to show that in the article, she challenges other works while building up on hers (Merrill, 1543). The author has also clearly stated that to date, there has been no other author engaging with the same issue as her in the whole of Italy. Therefore, in her opinion the topic has not been studied enough to enlighten the Italian society. Structure of the Paper In giving her argument, the author begins by introducing the reader to the overall issue of immigration in Italy. This gives the reader an overview of the issue that she will be tackling. The next section in the article is the conceptual approach of racial discrimination of immigrants from Africa. At this point, she brings in the issue neoliberalism globalization (Merrill, 1544). She then explains how this affected the subject of immigration and how it changed it. It is also in this section that she examines how individuals have not noticed that neoliberalism affects immigration. In the next section, the author discusses about the overall issue of demographic patterns in Italy. She then outlines the characteristics of migration in the country and gives the way in which the two issues (demographic patters and migration) affect each other. She then examines how Italian workers have been racially discriminated in their own country. Further, on the same subject, she studies the production and output of outsiders in relation to the migration controls that have been set up (Merrill, 1545). The structure of the author’s work has been arranged in such a way that she clearly addresses all the issues independently without confounding the reader. Therefore, slowly, by connecting the different sections of the document, she comes up with her final article. Finally, she analyzes the overall problem of race in conjunction with trade unions in Italy. She clearly examines the way in which trade unions have failed to realize that workers are getting intimidated by the issue of racial discrimination in the country. At this point, the author enhances clarity in her work by aligning the issue of discrimination side by side with the issue of plight of women. She then examines them analogously to bring out how women’s problems have been well handled and yet, the problem of race continues to be ignored. Apart from Marx, the author also examines the studies of other individuals such as Allan Pred’s analysis about racism and David Delaney beliefs about the spatial location of races (Merrill, 1568). Still, the author has also challenged scholars such as Glenn in her view about labour. Therefore, in her literature, the author examines all the previous studies irrespective of whether she agrees with them or not. Examination of such a large number of studies has enabled the author to make her work very resourceful, as opposed to limiting it to one particular study. In addition, she has also been able to consider views of different authors and thus; she was able to criticize some while accepting others. This is a way of bringing out her stand to the reader clearly. Methodology The work of the author was mainly performed using secondary method. Therefore, there was no primary collection of data since; the materials used were mainly from the library. The author majorly used materials from books and articles used by previous studies. Therefore, there was no data collected from the field. The author did not use primary sources of data and thus, her work might have very limited evidence since; she relied a lot on the views of other people instead of going to the field for her own data. However, the author still mentions that the Italian Society greatly helped in her work. Therefore, she might have conducted a number of interviews without collecting the data. The author also had a presentation at the University of California, which was used to assess the number of responses received. Therefore, indeed she did engage a large number of people from the society. Still, it cannot be ignored that the author has relied more on historical documents, published books, journals articles, magazines and newspaper articles. The author did not use any statistical analysis in her work since; there had been no collection of data. Other resources such as photos and videos have not been used in the articles. These are very important in enticing the reader to read an article. They attract the attention of the reader and other persons who might not have been interested. In addition, the author’s article could also have been more interesting if the author had used data, charts and graphs. These features break the monotony of an essay to the reader. In addition, with such features the author could have been more convincing in explaining her ideas. This is because; raw data is always more convincing than data obtained from the library. Use of such a large number of secondary data may also be confusing to the reader since; each scholar always has their own opinion. Conclusion The author finally concludes her work by bringing together the key points of her entire study. She also explains her final views by giving the attributes of the whole article. While ending the article, the author also recommends the approaches that can be used in future to build up the whole study. She gives out the key areas that need thorough investigation, and the areas that will be helpful to the community if examined further. Still on the conclusion, the author gives several recommendations to the problem of racism in Italy and discrimination of workers. She also assesses and examines different views such as global environment of politics and economy in the country. She clearly examines the areas that she deems as having the highest causal effect to the problem. Bibliography The author has referenced a hundred and twenty references, all of which have been cited in the article. Most of these citations majorly involve published books, journal articles, newspapers and websites. The number of research journal articles used in the article is thirty-nine, excluding newspaper articles. On the other hand, the author has used seventy-five published books in his references. The newspaper articles used in the work totaled to five, while the internet source was only one. Other types of documents such as government materials have not been sufficiently utilized. Popular media reports were also not used in the article since the author mainly focused on using published books in her work. Although these may be useful, most of them normally give outdated information. The author did not cite any Wikipedia materials in his work. The authors work shows that indeed the author conducted a thorough research even though he did not use primary data in his research. The work is also well organized since; the author has tackled all the key points in her work.
