Task Women Should Not Vote Introduction Gender equality has been a topic discussed globally, and the main reason is to come up with methods of how they can protect the rights of each gender. Often, women are the main victims of the setback, which has proven to be a serious challenge to developing countries in the world. The countries’ governments have surfaced with programs that ensure women in the society are treated appropriately, and they participate in national activities. According recent debates, women are still the most undermined gender and have no voice in the societal context. There exists the postulation that women are known to be individuals who lack the skills of governing and make a country prosper; they have been seen as inferior human beings who are unable to fight for the rights in the society. Women have courageously stood for their rights and have not been shy when unsettled by men. Many demonstrations that have been initiated by the women have been seen worldwide. Women should be allowed to vote, especially in the present societal setting that promotes equality.
Most of the countries in the world have embraced the efforts women are fighting for their rights in the society. All human beings are equal, and they deserve the same privileges in given to men in a country, therefore, both women and men should be treated in the same manner. Western countries have worked hard to solve the challenges that are caused to out due to gender inequality. They have come up with strategies that ensure that sharing of the blessings of the national resource is shared adequately to the whole people. It is unfortunate that some of the countries in the world still undermine women in the society, and they do not receive an equal share of national resources. In Saudi Arabia, women have been denied participation in national activities such as voting in national elections and giving of national ideas that bring development in the country. According to my opinion, women are human beings and they should be treated similarly to men. For example, women in Saudi Arabia managed to achieve their goals by demonstrating in the streets severally, when finally King Abdulla gave them permission to vote and vie for the top seats in the government (Opera). Other countries should also try to make sure that gender sensitivity is considered.
The public was reluctant in allowing women to vote in the general election. They had dissimilar grounds as to why they should not vote. The citizens had caused a lot of animosity as they aired their views. They argued that women ought not to ballot since they are a minority group that is not powerful. This was after comparing them with men who have to go about every day activities. The country had had men chauvinism for so long and thus women’s views were not tolerated. They argued that the women were not thought to have equal rights. This is because the men were bestowed with the sole responsibility of leadership. In other words, they were the ones who were supposed to know who to take leadership. The president meant what he said to the women in his country.
Women are seen to be inferior to men in the country and thus have no say in Saudi Arabia. She is not known to contest in any public arena together with the men. This is the reason as to why the citizens were not happy about the women voting. Every other person believed that the women were inferior to men. Any woman who would be found voting would be answerable to the government of south Arabia. Thus, intolerance of women was the key reason against their voting .The president argued that allowing the women to vote would make them equals with the men. Making them feel as equals to the men would mean that they would no longer listen to their husbands. This would mean a crime to a woman in Saudi Arabia. This is because it is unheard of for women to be heads in their families.
The president had also argued out that there would be a change of roles in the country. This is because in the Arab world, there are distinct roles for both men and women. The women concern themselves with domestic matters alone. This means that making them concerned with the matters concerning politics would be wrong. They would thus indulge in public affairs on the expense of their families. This would lead to them abandoning their families and instead indulging in elections. The president was exceedingly stern while making this law in his country. Women are supposed to be busy attending to their kids and their husbands. This applies to all the Saudi Arabian women who have to be submissive to the end. On the other end, the men were supposed to be very keen in politics .This meant that they would have to take the leadership positions in their country. If women were to be given the responsibility of taking part in public forums like elections, they would not be concerned with family affairs. In Saudi Arabia, women have to coil in their cocoons without interacting with the governing powers. Therefore, they are only answerable to their spouses and kids only.
The women were not allowed to vote in Saudi Arabia due to their low education levels. He argued that they had no proper education to enable them carry out the election exercise. Women in Saudi Arabia do not access the edification that the male counterparts get. This lack of education for the women has made it hard for them to know of the emerging issues in their state. The failure to go to school has made many of them unaware of their rights. The president capitalized on their ignorance to make the law that they were not supposed to vote. The president made the rulings to all the women and they had to follow it without questioning.
Conclusion
Conclusively, gender equality has been an issue that has been a challenge for a long time in the history of the world. Women have come out strongly to fight for their rights whereby, they have managed to get their equal rights from the government. Conversely, there are reasons which have been discussed showing why women should not vote in national elections and these include; women have been seen as inferior human beings compared by the men, their education level is low and most of them have not learn to higher levels. Finally, their positions in the society is often domestic and not in the national matters. Women are therefore advised to concentrate on taking care of their family and guarantee its continuity.
