There are different stereotypes that I often hear associated with feminists. For instance, it is often d that feminists are bitter people who failed to maintain their families. However, this may not be true to a certain extent since these are people just advocating for equal rights. Feminists are often labelled as people who always want to blame men for their misfortunes in life. At times, men are not responsible for the misfortunes of females. Feminists are also stereotyped as barren women who cannot conceive children.
I think this is not true since feminism is all about opinionated views about gender aspects. In this course, I advocate a feminist perspective that contends that "women will not be free until men are free". I think naturally, men are on top of women by virtue of their masculinity. They control the means of production and other aspects of life but they also fall short of total emancipation and freedom. Therefore, women can also be emancipated when men get total freedom.I want to get a clear understanding of the difference between gender and sexuality.
We often use these terms interchangeably but upon a closer analysis, it can be seen that these two terms are not the same. I would also like to learn why feminists advocate for equality with men yet females and males are biologically different. The other thing I would like to learn is why stereotyping especially of women still exists while there have been efforts in different sectors of the society to empower females.
