Introductory Paragraph: The main aim of this research is to identify the level in which the sociallives of the Hispanic people affects the way in which they are relating with members of their families. This research paper seeks to defend the following statement, The major cause of domestic violence within the Hispanic community is poverty. In seeking to defend this statement, the researcher will answer the following sub questions, What is the percentage number of the Hispanic people living below the poverty line? What is the percentage of the domestic violence within the Hispanic community? What is the percentage of this violence that occurs within the Hispanic people, of whom are living below the poverty line? Are there any other causes of domestic violence within the Hispanic people? Which group suffers most from the domestic violence that occurs within the Hispanic community? Based on the nature of the thesis statement, this researcher will use a descriptive research design to accomplish the research. Awuah-Werekoh (2012) explains that descriptive research is one whereby data is collected without initiating changes in the environment. Kumar (2011) further goes on to denote that another name for descriptive research is observational study. It is important to denote that descriptive research is effective in providing information concerning the behavior or characteristics of a particular group. Furthermore, a descriptive study is always carried out for purposes of demonstrating an association between things surrounding the world. Looking at this research, the researcher it is descriptive in nature. This is because it requires a researcher to make observations on the factors that cause domestic violence amongst the Hispanic community, and thereafter come up with a more reliable and accurate conclusion concerning the issue. Furthermore this research is concerned with analyzing the relationship amongst individuals. Berk (2006) denotes that one of the major characteristic of a descriptive research design is that it used to analyze the association between two or more groups. On this research qualifies to be use the descriptive research design for purposes of achieving its mandate. Action Plan: In carrying out this research, the researcher will rely mostly on three very important tools of descriptive research design. These tools are, observational, survey, as well as case study approaches (Creswell and Clark, 2007). Under observational research, the researcher will have the responsibility of identifying a group of particular Hispanic households, and analyze their ways of life, this includes whether there is violence or not amongst the identified families. This would therefore force a researcher to choose a population, and on this basis, the best strategy of choosing the population would be the use of a simple random technique. That is, the researcher will identify a least ten households, and randomly choose five, for purposes of observing their ways of life. Under case study approaches, the researcher will mainly rely on secondary sources of data collection to achieve this objective (Creswell and Clark, 2007). The researcher will have to look at journals, books, and news paper articles for purposes of finding a case study research that has been conducted by a reputable organization or academic expert that touches on domestic violence amongst the Hispanic community. It is important to provide an understanding that in as much as there is little research on this issue of domestic violence amongst the Hispanic community; there are a number of cases of violence that are always reported by the media. It is these cases that the researcher intends to find, and thereafter analyze, for the main purposes of meeting the objectives of this research. Another method in use will be the surveys. This method will be used specifically for purposes of identifying the number of Hispanic families that are experiencing violence. The method that the researcher will use will be an online survey, specifically because it has the capability of reaching a wide number of populations, and it is also a time and cost effective method of collecting data. Research Methodology: The main methodology of this research is qualitative method of research. Qualitative research is the use of words, as opposed to figures in the process of data collection (Creswell and Clark, 2007). For instance, in answering sub question one, that is, the percentage of people living below the poverty line. The researcher will mainly rely on surveys. In these surveys, the researcher will ask questions touching on whether the respondents have experienced domestic violence. Based on the results obtained from the respondents, the researcher will calculate the percentage of Hispanic families living in domestic violence. The researcher will also use surveys to identify the percentage of the Hispanics living under the poverty line. In identifying an individual who lives in poverty, the researcher will use the threshold identified by the government, that is, an individual who lives by less than a dollar per day. Based on the respondent of the survey, the researcher will calculate the number of the Hispanic people living below the poverty line in United States. The same process will be applied when investigating the percentage of Hispanics who experiences violence, and they live below the poverty line. It is therefore important to denote that the use of surveys will be an essential tool in conducting this research. This is because it will be used to answer three sub-questions of this study. The use of case study approach and observation will be used to answer the remaining two questions. For instance, when analyzing the causes of violence amongst the Hispanic community, it will be necessary to look at the various incidences of violence that emanated from this social group. The researcher will therefore have to rely on newspapers and books to look at these cases, and analyze them. For instance, the researcher will peruse through newspaper cutting of the last six months, for purposes of identifying any instances of violence amongst the Hispanic families, and hence analyze the causes of violence under consideration. Furthermore, observations and case study researcher will also be used in identifying the most vulnerable group to domestic violence. Through observation, the researcher will be able to observe people who are affected by violence amongst the Hispanics. Through case study approaches, the researcher will also be able to identify the most vulnerable group to domestic violence amongst the Hispanics. Conclusion: The researcher will use the deductive technique of data organization. This data organization strategy would allow the researcher to present his main idea, that is; the main cause of domestic violence amongst the Hispanic community is poverty (Dane, 2011). After the introduction of the main idea, this deductive data organization technique would allow the researcher to give reasons and clarifications regarding the topic under consideration. The use of this method is advantageous, and this is mainly because it is simple, and it clearly articulates the main focus of the study (Dane, 2011). It would therefore be easy for the people who are supposed to use the findings of this research to understand, and accurately interpret the results of the research under consideration. In analyzing this data, the researcher would use the analytic induction methodology (Kumar, 2011). Kumar (2011) explains that this is one of the most appreciated and oldest methods of data analysis. Through this method, the researcher will conduct a study of domestic violence amongst the Hispanic community and hence came up with a hypothesis. Based in this study, the hypothesis under consideration is that violence is the main reason for domestic violence amongst the Hispanic community. The researcher will therefore analyze information regarding this issue for purposes of coming up with a relevant data that proves the assertions contained in the hypothesis. Any information that contradicts the hypothesis would not be used. This is because the researcher will only seek to find information that supports the hypothesis, and measures this information with others, regarding the same issue for purposes of finding consistency.
