This assignment focuses on Hong Kong’s special role in the 1997-1998 Asian financial crisis Why do teen girls become promiscuous? Why are we moved to experience this thing called sex? Do teens in a High School environment have a higher respect for another teen when they have had sex before? Adults and some media are always telling teens to wait until marriage, or at least until they are sure theyve found their soul mate. Dont throw away your virginity on a person you wont stay with, they say.

Others say if you dont respect it, lose it! One thing is certain, sex is something a person simply cannot understand completely until he or she has done it. There are emotional ties and new physical sensations that cannot be replicated without a partner. Some teens may seek it for intimacy or security. Being a teenager usually involves high school social contact. Most everyone can remember the slut οf their high school, the girl with the bad reputation. I was a little on the wild side as a teen myself, and I know girls will do it no matter how constricting the parents get.

Teens get sneaky and make elaborate plans, lying or skipping school to be together with someone οf the opposite sex. The shaming feelings about sex need to be acted upon, they compromise pleasure. If the social shame were lifted, the "inner slut" would introduce us to new horizons οf desire and experience. Parents send mixed messages when telling their young daughter to come to them if she ever needs birth control, no questions asked. When this actually happens, the parent really freaks out and induces punishment.

This has happened to both my high school best friend and I! Im sure many others have dealt with this event. The bad thing is that teenage girls are considered sluts while guys are called a stud! Even the sexual revolution οf the 60s hasnt altered this sexist truth. "Consider the lines and boundaries οf love and sexuality. Consider what makes them and then think οf many οf the other lines and boundaries that were made in a similar way. Segregation, homophobia, peer pressure, sexism, religious persecution, are all subjects that have a history and moral basis.

Is it correct for us to go out and tell people what they can or cannot choose to do sexually?" (Sean, 2003). Every individual is unique, some teens are immature and only do it to brag to friends later. This causes conflict, especially if the other partner wants to be inconspicuous. High school cannot be mentioned without thinking οf the cliques and silly rumors passed. The rumor mill distorts stories and makes a sexually active (or not) female more depressed. Why are people are so afraid that a girl would actually like and enjoy sex!

Whose business is it anyway, who anyone sleeps with? Traditional stories concerning coming οf age describe a dawning realization οf the self, but the girl taunted as the high school slut experiences a darkening loss οf self and complete personal objectification. She hears obscene things about herself on a daily basis, and subconsciously may even begin to believe shes good for nothing but sex. One example οf how shattering the experiences can be is Kates story οf how she got a false reputation from a rumor created in her school.

"I thought this girl was my friend, and so I started telling her about Baba. He was this man who lived there in my old neighborhood. He was really short, and mentally retarded or something. We called him Baba because that was all he could say. I felt really sorry for him. Everybody knew him but no one knew what was wrong with him. He wore glasses, and he had these beautiful blue eyes. I remember one day as a little kid staring into his eyes for a long time. I was thinking οf him there in my new school and missing him.

I told this girl about him. She used this story to make up a lie about me. By the time the rumor got back to me everyone said that in South Philly I lived with my retarded father, and I fucked him all the time. She told it so Baba was my father, and they said he was half sheep, and I let him fuck me." Any information about Karen was grossly distorted into something perverted; by talk, whispers, by the sexually naïve and hormonally crazed imaginations οf kids who try to gross one another out, easing teenage sexual tensions and curiosity over the big mystery.

(White, 2002) Maybe this girl was scared οf a vixen stealing her boyfriend. Is it possible she is "the monstrous female we do not want to be, the female we might remember being but are shocked by, who has the capacity to track down another girl in a parking lot and overwhelm her with all the gusto οf a true predator." The verbal taunting mentally and emotionally scar the girls called sluts, not to mention and physical abuse οf getting beat up. The other side οf this is when the girls who get called names embrace the label and admit to everything, true or not.

For attention or whatever their reasons may be. They feel that they know what is true and what is not. They choose not to care what everyone else thinks! "They revel in the notorious corruption and thinks οf it as a kind οf freedom from social expectations." (Shes a slut, what do you expect? Dont pay attention to her mistakes, shes loose.)
