Overview of the business problem ABC Company has been facing many challenges or problems especially in the human resource department. Recruiting and training employees have been a major problem, which has caused a lot of conflicts and misunderstanding in the company. Many people apply for jobs and they claim that there is poor recruitment system and selection, which is unfair. They claim that it depends on who you know one to get a job. Qualifications do not matter a lot because nepotism and ethnicity is the order of the day (Dessler 70). Employees too claim that they are not being trained because those who are suppose to train them claim that there is no time and enough facilities to do so. This is a problem because employees lack skills and competence to carry out their work. In addition, employees have no knowledge on computer; hence, they transact all business and organization’s activities manually. This is a factor is making their work difficult because it is time consuming and tiresome. It is a major problem because it will encourage fraud and corruption. Information and data can be manipulated to suit ones needs and desires; hence, running the company at a loss (Dessler 71). 1.2. Key requirements and constraints The major requirement to solve these problems is to train employees on how to use computers so that they can reduce time wasted and avoid making employees too tired, which may lead to reduced production. Training can be conducted online if employees are trained on how to use computers and other IT software. Buying computers will ease recording keeping because it will improve its accuracy and reliability. On recruitment and selection, it should be done in a transparent and fair manner. The data should be entered into the computer or all the applicants to apply online and the system set to select them on merit. This will ensure transparency and openness in selecting. The human resource department should develop a system that will select new employees on merit by avoiding interferences by the human resource recruitment, selection, and interview panel (Dessler 72). The major constraint is resources. It is costly when purchasing computers, installing software, getting qualified trainers, and training employees. This would mean that facilities in the company need to be expanded, which is a constraint because of lack of space needed to expand the buildings and fix other equipment. The top management in the company is a constraint because they are concern with strategy formulation and decision-making. This is a major constraint that the organization is facing currently (Dessler 73). 2. Measureable Organizational Values 2.1. Area(s) of impact The areas that will be impacted are the human resource. The recruitment and selection will improvement; hence, in the long run will lead to improved performance because qualified staff will be working in the organization. There will be no employment done in a disorderly manner because a computer system and software will reduce chances of manipulation. Training will improve; therefore, motivating employees to carry out their duties with ease because have the skills, knowledge, confidence, and competency in the area of operation (Dessler 74). Recording keeping will improve because employees will know how to use computers. In addition, it will reduce cases of manipulation; hence, improving on efficiency and effectiveness. General performance in the company will improve significantly because employees who are motivated will give their best at work place. Employees determine the success or failure of the organization. IT in is currently necessary for the company to compete favorably with others in the market. IT is rapidly changing and employees who have knowledge will impact the organization general including all the stakeholders (Dessler 75). 2.2. Potential Value of the IT solution IT solutions have great potential because it determines whether the goals and objectives of the company are achieved or not. IT solutions are of high value to organizations because it is the only way they are known whether they have succeeded or not. IT solution will improve the image and reputation of the company that is technologically active, creative, and innovative. Employees will be inspired and motivated to work with enthusiasm to achieve the set goals and objectives of the company (Dessler 76). Effectiveness and efficiency will be achieved because adopting IT solutions will lead to improved service delivery and general organization and planning of the company. IT solutions are more important because its value is recognized by all employees who were selected through a fair and transparent process. IT solutions are important because it will help the organization employee not only qualified employees but also committed and dedicated at work place (Dessler 77). 2.3. Time Frame for achieving the MOV To achieve Measureable Organizational Values (MOV), it will at least twelve months (1 year). It will not be easy to implement all the requirement given there are many constraints that need to sort out. Twelve months will help the top management to make decisions on how to acquire new technology as employees are trained on how to use computers. This is enough time for the company to make decisions on how to get funds to finance this IT solution (Dessler 78). 2.4. IT solutions are the most appropriate because it will save the company from collapsing. There is need for immediate adoption of IT solutions because companies compete currently because of information technology, which is changing rapidly. Employees are the major assets of the company and they need to be trained on IT related courses so that they can be motivated and become effective and efficient in service delivery (Dessler 79). 3.2. Option 1 The top management should take a loan to purchase IT equipment such as computers and laptops. These equipments are necessary because they are currently essential for the success of the organization. Borrowing some money or including in the company’s budget for the year is important because the returns will be high and they will be in a position to repay the loan without straining. This is the best option of solving these major problems facing the organization (Dessler 80). 3.3. Option 2 The second option is to employ people who are IT literate in order to reduce cost associated with training new recruits in the organization. If qualified IT experts are not available, the new recruits should be trained before being assigned their roles and duties. Trained staff will be efficient and effective in service delivery because they understand what they suppose to do; hence, reducing cases of mismanagement, manipulation of information, and poor services and products to the customers (Dessler 81). 3.4. Option 3 The top management should make decisions and formulate strategies that will help the company move forward towards achieving the set goals and objectives. The top management has been a major problem because it has been failing to direct and correct some of the deviations experienced in the company. The company’s top management has the mandate, authority, and power to make decisions and strategies that will solve the problems facing the organization (Dessler 82). 4 High-Level Option Analysis 4.1. Objectives Met The company has met some objectives such as motivating employees by increasing their pay and employing trainers who will be in charge of all training and development of employees. This is an objective that is propelling the company forward because effectiveness and efficiency of employees have improved significantly. New computers have been bought and employees are learning how to use them with great enthusiasm because they are becoming more efficient in service delivery to the customers (Dessler 83). 4.2. Requirements Met The top management has decided to make decisions and formulate strategies that will help solve the problems facing the organization. The recruitment and selection has been improved in the organization because employees are hired and promoted on merit. There is no more bribing in the human resource department for one to be employed (Dessler 84). 4.3. Constraints Met There are two constraints that have been met. The company has purchased computers by borrowing money. Finance was a constraint because they could not borrow, but they have found reliable source where they can repay without straining. They have embarked on training their own employees because it was difficult to get already trained personnel. These constraints were the major challenge to the company but it has managed to improve because they have realized their importance (Dessler 85). 4.4. Impact on stakeholders The improvement of the IT in the company will motivate the stakeholder and change their attitude about the company. They will like company because of improved services. The employees will benefit a lot because they will get new skills, knowledge, and competences through training. Customers will get quality services and products at an affordable price (Dessler 86). 4.5. Costs The costs associated with improving and solving the IT problems in the company is estimated to be $2000. This amount will improve the productivity and performance of the company. The cost of buying and installing new computers is $1000, training ($600), and recruitment and selection of qualified staff ($400) (Dessler 87). 4.6. Risks The risks associated with this IT solution is the fact that the system may fail if the employees will take long to learn and understand it. If it fails, there is a risk in the repayment of the loans borrowed because the company will not realize any returns. 4.7. Summary and conclusion In conclusion, IT solutions are important if the company wants to reduce problems facing it and improve on the performance. For the company to compete favorably in the market, it has to adopt information technology by training its staff and installing essential IT equipment (Dessler 88). 5 Detailed Option Analyses 5.1. Base case revenue and cost drivers The revenue expected from the company after the problems have been solved is high. An annual return of $30000 is expected. The cost drivers will be minimized after training of employees because they will be efficient and effective in service delivery (Dessler 89). 5.2. IT case revenue and cost drivers The IT revenue is expected to increase significantly by 20% every year because of the installation of new equipment that will improve performance and service delivery. The cost drivers are minimal because it will only require power and maintenance fee that is affordable. 5.3. ROI Return On Investment is expected to double after all the problems have been affecting the company have been sort or solved. It is estimated or forecasted that it will be more $60000 per year. This will be achieved because of motivated and determined employees who are committed and competent. 5.4. Sensitivity Analysis Sensitivity analysis is important because the budget will have to meet all its financial requirements in the budget that will be prepared. A budget will have to be made that meets all the requirements of all departments in the company (Dessler 90). 5.5. Conclusion In conclusion, the cost drivers are minimal because it will only require power and maintenance fee that is affordable. The estimated or forecasted that it will be more $60000 per year, which will be determined by the cost drivers. 6. Recommendation and Conclusion 6.1. Summary of solution The IT solutions are vital in the improvement of the quality of the services and products of the company. Solutions are necessary if the problem is to be addressed fully. Employ people who are IT literate in order to reduce cost associated with training new recruits in the organization. Recommendation I recommend that, the top management should set guidelines, procedures, rules, and regulations to be followed in order to achieve the set goals and objectives of solving the problem facing the company. It should invest a lot of resources in IT if the problem is to be addressed ones and for all.
