In this article’s methodology, a non-random sample selection is done and 63 of the leading U.S. oil and gasoline companies are identified as the best samples for the study. Dominguez-Faus’s et al (2014) article asserts that the ensuing confidence in the prospective worth of coal and petroleum products has not been amassed in ignorance. Instead, they argue that it is based on the rationalization of circumstances and implications that are likely to happen in the energy market. Several search and elimination methods are used to collate a tranche of 88 documents about the ‘unburnability’ of carbon.

Dominguez-Faus and colleagues were motivated to research to conduct their study by how the stock market responded to findings documented in a 2009 study in the e Nature journal. The fact that the article became referenced in most of the environmental science studies also prompted the conduction of this study. The lack of subheadings in the introduction chapter makes the article a little dull and hard to find the specific information needed. Though the authors do not give subheadings in the introduction section to identify the significance of the study, the offer a detailed explanation that their study would be very insightful especial to the energy companies and investors in the stock market.

This is because they reckon that their study would help explicate when and whether the stock market acknowledged the prospective devaluation of energy company shareholders on account of unburnable carbon. The importance of the study given by Dominguez-Faus and colleagues is very convincing because they do not just state how their study will be of significant but they also provide a detailed account of how the stock market, energy companies and investors would use the findings of their study to align their activities.
