The dilemma of evaluating safety in the consumption of organic foods is aimed to be resolved and explained in the light of taking various perspectives most crucial to its understanding. Expounded on Pollan’s book by providing the gist, to wit: “Pollan explains in satisfying detail how American food production, once sun-based, became fossil-fuel based: Instead of using the sun to grow grass to feed cows, we now use fossil fuels to process corn into feed for pigs and cows—and to process corn into feed for humans” (Cowen, 2006, par. 2). The author likewise indicated both strengths and weaknesses of Pollan’s book, particularly in its shortsightedness in encompassing macroeconomic perspectives in his recommendations.

The discourse provided a concisely written, objective, and critical analysis of Pollan’s book by looking at the issues from an economist’s perspective. The points of contention were valid and credible, given the educational background and expertise of the author. The contents should therefore be included in the current research to provide a more objective view and structure of writing on the Omnivore’s Dilemma. A critical review of Pollan’s The Omnivore’s Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals was provided through an objective assessment of the author’s writing style, including competencies on the subject. Kamp contends that the strength of Pollan’s book lies in the super meticulous reporting, where being too lovely was perceived to be its debility.

The article provided a concise review of what readers can expect from Pollan’s book through the eyes of a qualified journalist, where information was delivered in a critical and rhetorical structure that appealed to the reader's intellectual and emotional perceptions. There are relevant contentions in the book’s contents, particularly on the discussion about high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS), pinpointed as the culprit to the nation’s obesity problem, that could be used and cited in the current research. Presented a revolutionary approach to how people viewed food as to points of origin and how these are processed before being consumed. In short, Pollan traced and followed the food chains where “three principal food chains that sustain us today: the industrial, the organic, and the hunter-gatherer” (Pollan, 2006, p. 7) were closely evaluated and expounded.

The author is highly authoritative on the subject matter after having written several books and articles on the subject of food for more than 25 years. With contents that are still recently applicable, published in 2006, the topics ranged from looking at industrial, pastoral and personal perspectives that touch on diverse subjects such as the farm, making meat, significant organic, and the perfect meal, among others. This book is instrumental in the current research due to the comprehensiveness of the information and the value of the contents to the prospective study.
