Week 2 The learning’s from week 2 was impeccable as the week highlighted on the different language of ethics and situations which people judge to be fair and correct. It showed situations when people are unable to understand which situation are correct and which are wrong. To ensure correct and effective decision making using the values of integrity, competence, responsibility, respect and concern will formulate the stand through which correct directives will be taken. People need to act in a manner which will ensure moral correctness and ensure that the actions taken are correct. This requires taking decisions for the entire society and looking towards using the value system in such a manner that a proper differentiation is ensured between the different decisions so that ethical decisions are taken. This is a difficult feat to achieve as people generally get guided by different principles or morals which overshadow their values and looking to garner short term gains makes the person take steps which are inappropriate and incorrect. The lecture also highlighted the importance of identifying ethics from the perspective of world bodies and judgements which are rule based so that the overall effectiveness improves. The overall process was learning was good as it taught the different areas and directions through which purposeful and better decisions can be taken so that the overall framework of taking ethical decisions is highlighted and will thereby reflect on the fact that correct decisions can be taken. Week 3 The week looked towards strengthening the knowledge of ethics and moved away from ethics in normal term to ethics in relative term. This helped to realize the fact that being ethical means that acting and doing things which are ought to be correct and looks towards improving the condition of many and at the same time ensuring that human rights of each individual is protected. Using a case study method to present situations where different decisions seemed ethical helped to realize the fact that every decisions provides with different options which might seem correct but to ensure the best decision a process of relative ethical policy need to be used where the aim is to improve decisions which will look at different aspects. This helped to realize that we need to develop our value system where we look towards adopting the right and getting rid of the bad so that every decision which we taken are supported by the value system and brings a change in complete decision making. The lecture also highlighted the importance of developing the value system as it shapes and determines the manner in which a person acts. Having a sound virtue system ensures changes in the manner decisions are taken and provides an opportunity through which different ethical consideration are being made while taking decisions. The overall learning was great as it brought a complete change and transformed the thinking process which has thereby ensured that better decisions can be taken through it. Week 4 The week looked at providing information where people while looking to take ethical decisions get engulfed in a moral dilemma. The situation becomes complex as I have also felt at certain times that acting in both the ways are correct but which is more morally correct and ethical is an important aspect which needs to be considered. The lecture highlighted that people fall in an ethical conundrum as deciding which is correct becomes difficult. This happens in case of situation where people find acting in a certain way will be truthful but would have an impact on the loyalty. This requires proper understanding as people need to understand the difference between both and based on situations need to choose one which will look at maximizing the gains for maximum number of people. This will ensure that the decisions which are taken are correct and will exemplify the overall process of taking decisions. The lecture also highlighted situations where ethical dilemmas are faced whether decisions should be taken based on individual needs or community needs. The learning taught that ethical decisions should be taken where it has an impact on maximum people and ensures that most people are able to gain from it. This was thereby a great learning experience as it brought a complete change in the manner I used to think and take decisions and will thereby have a bearing on future decisions as it will guide me to be able to take better decisions after considering different important facets and information. Week 5 The week looked at continuing with the different ethical dilemma which are faced and looked at highlighting the different patterns and other aspects which have to be considered while taking an ethical decision. The lecture highlighted the fact that it was important to stress on the fact that decisions are taken keeping in mind the long term perspective and ensuring that business decisions are taken through which the society will be better off in the future. This will help to bring a change in behaviour and will guide people towards taking decisions which are ethical and correct. In addition to it the lecture also highlighted the importance of differentiating between justice and mercy and ethical decisions should be based on justice. This will ensure fairness and will create an environment where the decision are not taken through a process which is being looked down at someone but instead the decisions are taken in a manner which is aimed towards being fair and acting for the larger interest of the society. This was a great learning curve as it highlighted the different facets which need to be analyzed while looking to take ethical decisions and ensures that the process of decisions multiplies the effectiveness and reduces the chances of making errors. This will also help to maximize the ethical decision making process as using the same with the different theories and models will ensure that decisions will be based on the value and virtue system at the same time will look at strengthening the manner in which different decisions are taken. Week 6 The lecture looked at highlighting the manner in which different personal and professional ethics issues needs to be dealt with and the mechanism which has to be adopted to facilitate proper decision making. The lecture stressed that while looking to take decisions it is imperative that all the different options are evaluated using the spiral model and based on the options which seem the most suitable actions should be taken. The determination of option which is the fittest will depend on different variables and aspects like ethical theories, models, justice, and long term orientation and so on. This requires proper identification of the model and developing a process which is aimed towards best decisions The lecture also highlighted the manner in which while working for a professional body a code of conduct needs to be followed so that clashes between the personal and professional ethical requirements are avoided. The person should further look to work in organizations where there personal values matches with the professional values as it will make it easier to take decisions and will bring a complete change and transformation in the manner people act. This will thereby help to bring a change in the thinking style and will ensure that people will be able to use their personal values at work. This learning provided useful information regarding the manner in which I can bring a complete change in the outlook and process through which I take decisions. This will thereby help me to develop my personal values and virtues in such a manner that it assists my professional life and ensures that the different decisions which I make will be better. Week 7 The week looked at providing complete information substantiating the different facets which has been taught so that understanding improves. It showed situations when people are unable to understand which situation are correct and which are wrong. To ensure correct and effective decision making using the values of integrity, competence, responsibility, respect and concern will formulate the stand through which correct directives will be taken. The lecture also highlighted situations where ethical dilemmas are faced whether decisions should be taken based on individual needs or community needs.
