The purpose of the project is to identify the problems that exists in learning where there are children from non English speaking communities being taught English. Research is clear that failure of students to understand English results in such students failing in other subjects that they study while at school. The aim of the research is to find out whether the poor performance by student of English as a second language is in any way influenced by the attitude that their teachers have. The project is aimed at ten teachers in primary school and who are supposed to have taught for not less than five years. The research also targets twenty students who are supposed to in classes for English as a second language. Available evidence suggests that it is never easy for teachers with students who are from non English speaking backgrounds to relate with their students. The research is intended to be carried out using interviews and filling of questionnaire. The participants in the program are supposed to be selected methodically as long as they meet the prerequisite criteria. The results by the respondents are supposed to be analyzed and it is hoped that they will help one way or the other in making improvement in teaching of English as a second language. 2. A copy of the teachers and students consent forms. (a) The following the consent form (for teachers) for the research project on Teachers' Attitude Towards Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and Its Effect on Their Ability to Teach. This is a project aimed at researching on the effect of attitude of teachers who teach English to non English speakers. The interviewer is required to have gone through the contents of the consent form so as to be in a position to respond to any queries from the respondents. The interviewee is required to sign the consent form in duplicate before the interview start. One copy is retained by the interviewer while the other one is left with the interviewee. The survey shall be carried out by a maximum of five research assistants who are well trained. The research assistants are supposed to be well versed with the art of persuation and have been schooled on the issue of confidentiality in research and thus should be expected to maintain confidentiality. The research shall also involve experts who are supposed to analyze the information gathered and thus arrive at the right conclusion. The teachers and students who are involved in the survey are assured of their identities being kept confidential and the results of the research are only supposed to be used in making improvements to the teaching of English to students from non English speaking backgrounds. Consent to Participate in a Research Project I voluntarily agree to be a participant in a research project which is conducted by Swaileh Alanazi from the University of New England. I am going to be among the responding numbering about thirty who are set to participate in the research project. 1. My decision to participate in the project is entirely voluntary with no undue influence or coercion whatsoever. I am aware that the no payment whatsoever shall be made for my participation. I also have the discretion to withdraw from the research project. 2. I understand that though many interviewees may find the questions to be acceptable, I have a right to decline to respond to questions which I find unacceptable. 3. The time for the interviewee is approximately forty minutes with researchers being university students. The researchers will make notes over the interview though no audio recording of the interviews shall be made. 4. The researcher will not reveal my identity in any subsequent reports to be made and hence confidentiality for the information that i tender shall be assured. Policies regarding protection of data shall be put into account when any data is to be used for any other purposes. 5. No administrators or in fact any other person shall be presented during the interview other than the authorized research assistants. 6. I have read through the form and have had my concerns addressed. I have also had all questions responded to satisfactorily. 7.
