Individual privacy may be compromised which can expose women, who take shelter from battering, domestic violence, abuse or threat to life, to greater than minimal risk of harm. The ethical issues identified above can be addressed effectively by ensuring that the following aspects are considered while conducting the survey:1. The researcher should respect the participant’s right to confidentiality and adhere to all legal requirements pertaining to data protection. 2. Women who wish to participate in this survey should be fully informed about the study and the potential risks and benefits of their participation.

Again, the researcher should also obtain documented proof of informed consent from women who wish to participate in the survey (Kelley et al., 2003). 3. A researcher should respect the participant’s autonomy to decide whether or not they want to participate in the study. 4. The researcher should have the survey project reviewed by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) to ensure that the rights of the human research subjects are protected.
