Trees that grow in good soil with access to adequate water grow taller. The height of the tree does not matter in this process. Photosynthesis occurs in the leaves, and it is the process of making food. Water and mineral salts combine with carbon dioxide to make food for the tree. The process takes place in the presence of sunlight, which speeds up the chemical reaction in the leaves to form fruit.

Trees are significant in cleaning the environment. There is a need for gaseous exchange between animals and plants. Animals take in oxygen and give back carbon dioxide. Human beings also depend on oxygen and eat animals.

One of the ways that trees clean the air is through the removal of carbon dioxide from the air. The essential part of forests is the tropical rain forests, which provide for more than half of living organisms on this planet. Human beings cut down different species of trees for their personal use.

Man forgets that part of his role on earth is to care for the environment. Instead of planting more trees, they destroy them in the name of development or progress. Living organisms, including man, suffer the most because they depend on clean air for survival and growth.

The loss of different species of organisms from the earth has become the norm today. Human beings destroy other organisms to make their own life better. Recklessly cutting down forests without planting others is a form of destruction to all forms of life. New settlements are coming up, and man may eat up a huge portion of forests. Man aims to have an artificial environment for him to live at the expense of nature on earth.

Man cannot eat from a polluted environment. Over the years, human beings have made this mistake and destroyed the ecology, only to suffer in return alongside their possessions. The need for the environment to remain clean is to increase the amount of oxygen for intake by man. Destroying the environment is destroying ourselves because we pollute oxygen, which supports life.

• They produce fruit, seeds, and chemicals.

Human beings eat some animals, such as cows. When most species of trees are depleted, animals will become extinct. During harsh climatic conditions, trees offer shelter and protection to some animals. These animals will die if plants dry from the surface of the earth. Man himself will lack what to eat and shelter at the same time. Trees provide adequate oxygen, which sustains man to live and eat from the surrounding. When animals suffer, man suffers, too. Trees provide food in the form of fruit for man and his other moving beings. There is a need for man to be one with nature because gaseous exchange makes living things survive the times and live in peace on the earth.
