Hurricanes form on warm ocean waters. The condition that sustains the formation is that the wind and force air must be blowing in the same route and upward from the surface of the ocean. They form between 5 degrees and 15 degrees latitude north and south of the equator. The Atlantic hurricane season twitches on 1st June and ends on 30th November. However, the eastern pacific hurricane season starts from 15th May to 30th November (Jackson, 172).

Hurricanes winds loop about the storm as storm upwelling push water into knoll at the centre of the blizzard. When the knoll of water reaches land, water piles up and forms a storm as they are unable to escape. More storm surge that causes flooding is found in gently sloping ocean floors. With improvement in technology, statistics are taken and fed into computers, and with the help of computer models, i.e. slosh models, they take into account the strength of storms and calculate the probability of storm surge.
In a period of two years (1950 to 1952), north Atlantic tropical cyclones were well-known and named in phonetic letters. A year later, the US weather bureau migrated to women’s names. The rest of the world embraced the names, but currently, world metrological organizations have the right of mentioning hurricanes according to where the part the gale is in. Some of the Atlantic hurricanes are dolly, Authur, Cristobal and Josephine. The eastern pacific hurricanes names include Amanda, Douglas, and Christina. Hurricane hunters have the sole responsibility of working for the National Ocean Administration, which lasts for 10 hours, accompanied by aircrews that pass through the storm. Hurricanes exist in different stages, i.e. tropical wave: it is a low-pressure wave that travels westwards along with trade winds. Tropical disturbance: this is a structured area of thunderstorms that usually forms in the tropics. They are accompanied by heavy rains and blowy winds. Tropical cyclone: it is a low pressure that advances over tropical and sub-tropical waters like tropical depressions. Tropical depression: This prepared area of low pressure sustains wind up to 38 meters per hour.
