They have no one fixed diet; this, therefore, means that their food ranges from invertebrates to mammals. The food they take at any one time depends on their stomach contents and capacity at that moment. The invertebrates and small fish are usually eaten by the younger alligators while the older one eats amphibians, snakes, turtles among other prey.

The Chinese alligator on the other hand as mentioned earlier is smaller in size than the American alligator. This alligator is only about 5ft long and 36kg weight. It resides mostly in Eastern parts of China along rivers and lakes; it likes these areas because they are wetlands and have marshes. Their diet is the same as that of the American alligator. This species is however being endangered because of being killed by humans who use its meat for medicinal purposes. Even though they can take care of themselves, the poisoning of some of their food like rats and the constant human hunting still reduces their number and their defenses as well.

As mentioned earlier, the Chinese alligator’s favorable habitat is the wetlands. Their most common habitat is the Yangtze landscape which harbors a lot of fresh water and lots of marshes where a variety of their diets like the fish and other aquatic fauna can be found. This however has not been the case recently. The habitat is being destroyed by the landscape being made to be rice fields. The planting of rice even though beneficial to the high population of China has made the alligators extinct as they die for lack of food, poisoning (which is carried out by the farmers to kill the rats in those fields) and even being killed by humans. The drainage of the rivers is also affecting the wetlands and further contributing to the extinction of the alligator in China Thorbjarnarson and Wang, 208).

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) of China has facts about the destruction of the alligator habitat in China. According to them, not only are the habitat areas along the river basins being reclaimed as farmland, destruction of the vegetation in the hilly areas which are known to be sources of water for the river has also contributed to habitat destruction. ...Download file to see next pages Read More

...Can Alligators Be Saved... PROF August 2, Wikileaks Endangered Lives Saved by Military “Censorship” The word censorship makes people squirm and worrythat they are being lied to, or that the government or other force of authority is trying to harm them. This is just not the case. In fact, what is usually called military “censorship” is in the best interest of our troops, our country, our government, and our liberty. One recent example of this is the Wikileaks scandal where a large number of sensitive documents were released to the public. This release of censored material shows why censorship is actually a positive thing when it comes to military documents, as it has caused problems with military security. Furthermore, it endangered not only...

Even though this extensive government program is traditionally understood as when modern liberalism had its beginnings, this time of financial and social reforms was caused by the economic catastrophe of 1929 and was not tied to any ideological positions. Can marriage be saved

...Can Alligators Be Saved... Can Alligators Be Saved... Marriages are considered to be made in heaven. However this is strictly not the case in this world anymore. It is now more of a compromise and a situation that asks for hard labor than anything else. What this means is that marriage ruins the very basis of two persons who are bound to live with each other for the rest of their lives and this is a myth that has been making the rounds of so many people in the times much like today. Marriages take into account a number of factors like it is considered as a commitment on the one side while a reparation or self punishment on the other. Then at times it is also seen as a legal contract between two individuals so that they could live for the rest of...

My Enemy Saved Me: A Critical Analysis of Geoffrey Philip's My Brother's Keeper

...Can Alligators Be Saved... Can Alligators Be Saved... Enemy Saved Me: A Critical Analysis of Geoffrey Philp’s My Brothers Keeper The of the short story of the Florida-based Jamaican Geoffrey Philp is a very familiar one. There are several pieces under such title and it can be misleading. However, the author’s unique touch makes this particular story one of a kind. The first few words are as attractive as they are grammatically incorrect. When I first encountered this text, I thought there was a typographical error. This attracted me to read further and I discovered the beauty of the writer’s choice of style, language and diction. These qualities makes the story stand out and sound plausible since it is narrated in the first person point of view...
