TOPIC: GLOBAL WARMING OF THE PLANET March 13, 2008 Introduction to the environmental problem. Human beings have been utilizing natural resources of earth quite blindly. The exploitative and unplanned consumption of natural resource base has been jeopardizing the availability of these resources for the next generations. Depletion of fossil mineral oil in an aggressive manner has been sabotaging the environment in different forms. Resultantly increased level of carbon mono oxide and carbon dioxide has caused global warming. Due to this effect glaciers are melting down. Cyclones and floods like tsunami are the consequences on one side and droughts on other side. Over consumption of natural resources have been putting undue pressure on earth as planet. Human habitats are being plundered of their natural resources base. Air and water pollution is rampant in all industrialized cities of the world. PPM (particulate matter per cubic meter of air) is alarmingly high, and is no more fit for human breathing. The COD, BOD levels in fresh water streams are quite low for survival of plant and animal life in waters. The soils are being badly damaged by excessive cropping. The precious animal and plants species are endangered. The CO2 level in the atmosphere is alarmingly high. Results are the global warming and climate change. Therefore unnecessary lust of a few people for consumption of food, clothes, fuel, energy and other scarcest resources has been resulting into poverty disease and death for many other fellow human beings. The rivers are gutted with filth, the air is laden with poisonous gases and soils are boiling with toxic materials. This situation is only due to greedily exploitation of forest, fossil fuels and food-based resources. The solution lies in finding the alternate resources that are cleaner in production, cheaper and efficient. Deforestation is unabatedly continuing due to excessive consumption of wood and meat. Extensive demands for food, meat, eggs, milk and hides have resulted in biggest grazing farms in Europe. In this way levels of carbon dioxide are increasing and earth is getting destroyed. Ozone layer is getting ruptured. Cancer and other environment diseases are on rise. In this unabated lust for food and resources rivers and seawaters are getting polluted. Water pH levels are getting highly acidic. Chemical oxygen demand (COD) and biological oxygen demands (BOD) are not being met. Fish, crabs, tortoise and other marine sources are being imbalanced. Bio diversity is getting tarnished. Fauna floras on earth and water resources are getting destroyed. Precious animal and plants species are getting into extinction. Plantations at a vast scale can reverse this situation. Therefore plantation of saplings can help a lot in improving the situation of environment. The sea beaches are always littered with different foodstuffs and their containers. This is called garbage or solid waste. This waste can be collected, separated and recycled for further use. The recycling projects include three main activities. Collection of organic wastes like wood, paper, food remains, plastic bottles, metal cans, glass, and bones. The collection needs proper gloves and storage containers. The separation includes, segregation of metal, glass, bones and food/paper stuff in separate containers. In this way you separate organic from inorganic waste. The organic waste is put in an airtight container and mixed with yeast. After 90 days the stuff converts into manure (natural fertilizer) and the liquid part of this can be used as a pesticide. The organic wastes are crushed and used in the factories for recycling. Where per capita incomes are quite high, consumption patterns are also quite unreasonable People do not care about wastage of energy. The use cars and fuel base appliances excessively. This is causing degeneration to our water resources. This situation must be reversed. THE INCONVENIENT TRUTH Al-Gore former Vice President of USA took the lead in bringing atop the most alarming issue of Global Warming on political front of the World. He has effectively brought into the knowledge of the World that Global Warming is the cause and effects of unlimited emissions of CO2 in the atmosphere that is in turn responsible for raising the global temperature. This raised global temperature has been melting glacier and bringing about floods and tycoon on the earth. The uncontrolled emissions of CO2 are also responsible for depletion in the ozone layer and result is the climate change. The Global Warming has become a reality and not it out. Through this Movie Al-Gore has given a common sense and ethical basis for the passionate mission for reversing the harmfully facts of Global Warming by the dent of his personal and political responsibility. Some of the people might have accused Al-Gore for exploiting Global Warming as a platform for the political campaign for the democrats but the passionate conviction demonstrated through his honest effort shows irrefutable message for the delinquent political leaders of the World who can still not see the Global Warming as an issue affecting the future generations of the World. Bush Administration favoring the pro oil policies has conveniently sidelined the inconvenient truth that never means a good gesture for the future generations. The inconvenient truth makes an honest case that the Global Warming is real it is manmade and its effects will be catastrophic if the political leaders do not take decision right now. In fact in convenient truth leaves the viewer inspired motivated shaken hand committed for the purpose of environment. THE GREAT GLOBAL WARMING A SWINDLE The basic premise of this movie is to counter the claims made in the inconvenient truth. This movie does not agree that Global Warming is a Human Act. They see inconvenient truth as an activity of the environmentalist groups in Western countries interested in promoting expensive solar and wind power engines instead of Cheap fossil fuels particularly in Africa and thus pushing the African Region back into poverty instead of industrial development. The assertion made in the film raise fingers on the scientific data collected on climate change. They think that climate change is a product of fanatic anti-industrial environmentalist run by their own multi billion-dollar environmental cartel. As evidence this film supports that CO2 levels increased since 1940 but during this period till 1975 the global temperatures decreased. Their data has been supporting by NASA. They have taken the graphs shown in the movie from OREGON Institute of Science who has already opposed signing of Kyoto protocol. This film also takes advantage of EPICA and VOSTOK ice gases which shown the relationship between temperature level and CO2 for the last 650000 years. They scientifically prove that water wrapper influence the climate change. On political front they have claimed that Global Warming has been amassing a lot of funds that could have gone for the industrialization in the World. They have criticized the role of ideology, politics vested interests, Global Warming research and suppuration of dissenting views on Global Warming. They also criticize the role of private industry in funding the cause of global warming. They do not accept that 2500 top Scientists of the World support inter-governmental panel on climate change and in brief they think that the issue of global warming as depicted in the INCONVENIENT TRUTH has killed the dream of industrialization in Africa.
