Global warming has been considered one of the most pinching environmental subjects of all time. The issue of global warming reaches the common man’s knowledge through various sources with varying views. The ways these different sources market their points on global warming in return affect the way the same information is consumed. It discusses different ideologies about global warming: more specifically how different ideologies have brought about the causes and remedies to global warming (Ray, 180).
Scientific reports claim that the very origin of global warming was somewhere in the mid-20th century. They argue that during and around the 1970s, environmental degradation was on the rise. The rise in degradation resulted in a huge concentration of carbon in the atmosphere which eventually rose into a universal issue. With different agencies and organizations such as United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) and the Intergovernmental for Climate Change (IPCC) all scrambling for the publicity brought about by global warming, the issue soon scaled to an international problem (Ray, 164). Skeptical science, however, disagrees with this claim, arguing that environmental degradation and global warming are natural and can only be stopped through natural practices (Prothero, 65).
Media, organizations, and agencies use conflicting ideas. The conflicting ideas merge into one to create a problem. Giving different data about the same information all from reputable sources, for instance, stirs restlessness (Prothero, 89). People tend to look for more information in this case. Amid the confusion of looking for a new idea, people easily believe whatever is talked about and that has direct effects on them. For instance, as the IPCC report of 2013 claims that global warming reduced amicably, skeptical science (2014) argues that the decade between 2000 to 2009 was the hottest. People believed IPCC since the arguments from skeptical science did not directly affect their health.
Global warming can just be an avenue through which the whole environmentalists strive to keep standard environmental conditions. Preserving the environment would not be made any easier if people were not threatened by massive consequences if they do not conserve their environment (Ray, 140).
Agencies or environmental organizations use effective strategies to ensure that their ideas are easily acceptable and convincing. In most cases, they give scenarios-as examples- that touch directly into human life (Ra, 127). Health is a sensitive component of human nature. Anything that people are convinced that are harmful to human health is immediately avoided even without a second thought.
In their adverts, the supporters of humans as the cause of global warming put real-life issues. People believe the issues that affect them. For instance, when the IPCC argues that global warming will cause deaths by 2015, people believe them. How about the fact that some people can adapt and live with global warming? An argument commonly posed by skeptical science (Prothero 123).
Major causes of environmental climate and temperature changes are both natural and the greenhouse gases emitted from human activities-from IPCC. It is a believable piece, but not short of criticism. For instance, there is no scientifically proven research with believable facts that human activities increase the amount of carbon in the environment (Prothero, 78). Different sources, however, debate on which cause between natural and human leading.
