With the knowledge of the available technology there are various ways through which the people who intend to use them try to make others aware of this technology that is in existence. With this regard there is a theory that tries to explain on how and the rate at which ideas and new technology spreads from one culture or civilization to another. This is the theory of diffusion of innovations. In this light there are three insights when it comes to the change that is seen in a social structure.

These include the need of understanding the requirements of the different users that are in existence in that social structure, the importance of peers and some of the qualities of an innovation which make it successfully spread among the population. In order to get a deeper understanding of the issue it is in order to examine some of these elements individually. So what really makes an innovation spread? This question can be answered in terms of the qualities that will be a determining factor when it comes to the success of the innovation.

The first quality in this case is to do with the innovation’s relative advantage. . The engineering of more environmentally friendly packages also entails putting into consideration the costs that will have to be incurred.

In actual sense there are some companies that are very much for the idea because to them it leads to the saving of costs eventually. The other element is the simplicity and ease of use of the innovation. Ideas that are simpler to understand are adopted almost instantaneously by the target users. In relation to the issue of sustainable packaging, the technology that is to be adapted is rather easy to use. This is because to a greater extent it involves the use of materials that are already in existence or if this is not the case it involves the issue of recycling that which has already been used which in most cases is a rather simple to engage in.

There is also the issue of compatibility with the already existing practices and beliefs. An idea that is not compatible with the norms, practices and beliefs which the users have will not be adopted easily in comparison to one that is compatible. In the present day society every individual has the intention of conserving the environment or at the same time having a hand in an activity that may bring about the saving of what’s left in the environment. This in actual sense is the current belief and opinion which people have.

With sustainable packaging, it goes without saying that the people in the society will definitely adapt the changes that are being brought forth by the
