The mixed-method research design that suits research into my area of interest is sequential explanatory strategy. Similar to the sequential explanatory strategy, it is conducted in two phases. However, this strategy is characterized by collecting and analysing qualitative data followed by collecting and analysing quantitative data. In turn, priority is given to the qualitative aspects of this study. This strategy aims to use quantitative data and results to interpret the qualitative findings (Knowledge base, web).
Under 18 boys and girls with a juvenile record, primarily high school students belong to the American culture. The method of non-probability sampling I believe will be most appropriate for carrying out my research. In fact, to be even specific purposive sampling technique that aids exploratory research and encompasses obtaining data from specific individuals, this would be juveniles in my investigation. This will ensure the study's internal validity as the chosen sample will be a certain fraction of the population.
With the help of self-report surveys, questionnaires, or polls, participants will select a response by themselves without researcher interference. To tackle this rapidly growing issue, there needs to be creating programs that aim to help prevent children from committing crimes. However, this can only be executed when there exists a basic understanding of juvenile crime. Furthermore, these programs focus on avoiding drug use, gang involvement, concentrating on a child’s early education, provide therapeutic help for families and the entire social system of juveniles.
By showing the success of these programs, public awareness can be created with families more willing to seek help for their troubled children. Also, knowing the harmful aspects of a child’s social life might help avoid children’s tendency to indulge in crime. Hence, parents can simply prevent juvenile delinquency by interventions and concentrate on their child’s social environment (Show).
