?Personal Development: Analysis of current education: My is Al-Henzab Abdul Rahman Saud. I am currently enrolled into INTO Manchester. I had engineering subjects during my High School. I fared well in those subjects and passed out with flying colors. I am applying for the course of electrical engineering. I have opted for this course because I have always enjoyed my hands at experiments. They have intrigued me ever since I was young. I would love to juxtapose electrical circuits and wires during my experiments. I started experiment on things around me since a very early age. When I was ten years old, I would destroy my toys in order to get wires out of them, then join them together, connect them via bulbs and small machines to the circuit to see what happened. I have been sponsored by the Qatar Petroleum Company. I will be henceforth working with them. they have sponsored me because I fared well in most of my high school grades. I was one of the top graders in my school. This gave my application an edge over the applications of my peers. I was one of the top 3 students of my high school. At the creative level, I am very good on creativity. For instance when I was young, I exercised my creativity by connecting a battery to the correct direction. Then I realized that the small machine is only connected to the circuit in a certain way. When I would change the poles side connected to the circuit, the machine would spin in the other direction. . And when I change the poles side connected to the circuit, the machine spins in the other direction. I am also co-operative and I like teamwork. I joined the school mathematics team in the high school and competed in different competitions like the mathematics Olympics which were held in my school and we won most of them. I also joined the school football team in the high school. I am interested in football, poetry, swimming and surfing the internet in my spare time. My parents trusted me when I was fourteen to look after my young brothers and to take care of them for six months I will join different sports such as football and swimming teams. And I will also join clubs and I will participate in different activities. SELF-ASSESSMENT And Motivation factor: The Portfolio I am presenting exhibits hours of self-assessment and reports. The purpose of this portfolio is to emphasize my strengths, skills and competencies. I am a committed, hardworking individual who is able to work effectively in a team; in addition I have strong communication skills and confidence. I can also demonstrate advanced problem solving skills that will help me a lot in financial advising, my drive and ambition ensure I will be a valuable addition in any company. I like to take the approach that I am my own company. I think I am proud of my skills and my ability to counteract any negatives by offering a solution in difficult situations. This means turning those negatives into positives. My time management skills and other skills like, Communications (listening, reading, speaking and writing), Mathematics and Analytical Ability, Career Exploration, Teamwork/Leadership is excellent and I am organized and efficient. I prefer to complete the project well ahead of schedule. I am a learner and I belief that if I am not familiar with something I am always keen to learn and implement it if given an opportunity. I am always been motivated by the desire to do a good job at whatever position I am in. I enjoy traveling to explore different working culture with new staff with different background, and I am always ready to face new kind of situation. I am always to keen to learn about different things and adventures. I want to excel to be successful in my job, both for my own personal satisfaction and for my employer. Not only I want to mature with contact to the intricacies of business and cultural management tasks, but I also intend to contribute significantly in increasing the landscape of my organization. MY GOALS, Work Philosophy and My SWOT: Goal setting is important for everyone to reach their Dreams .S.M.A.R.T. goals direct to goals that are Particular, Measurable, Obtainable, Realistic and Time Framed. The kind of person I am I belief I am suitable to carry the responsibilities in the finance department of an organization. I am particular about what I have to do and how will I do, I work hard to obtain it and I am realistic about the results. I belief if I have work harder on a project and done the right job then I’ll get what I deserve or else I am open to criticism. Lastly time framed for which I am very specific, my past records shows that I prefer finishing work before the dead line which do not means I rush things but I provide the accurate and required work to on schedule or before. Psychometric tests are an effective way to measure the intellectual skills of a person according to me and thus I took those tests to evaluate where I stand in terms of my skills and capabilities. It is a widespread measure adopted by most of the organizations to test the stamina, ability and personality of the graduate. There are several kinds of questionnaire I have taken few to know evidently about myself and my skills in different kinds: According to the numerical reasoning skills test response I am an average person in dealing with numbers. I like to juggle with numbers and analyze them on an average merit. As a person I am a keen learner, the learning style inventory test interprets me as a clarifier and activator kind of person. According to it I prefer to work things with a practical approach keeping the facts and figures strong with my in depth research. I am a well prepared person who prefers to keep a background knowledge and backup on the project I work on. I enjoy to work in groups as I belief many minds bring in different ideas and together we can implement those to work in our favor. As an activator I learn my concepts in practical terms and that is something that motivates me in to learn something new. If I know that what I am learning has a practical application followed up I enjoy doing it with my best efforts. I belief that one can only know and estimate what has he learn by applying it practically. On abstract reasoning skills I stand on the 38th percentile which helps to evaluate the performance of a person in identifying different shapes and figures. A test which evaluates the response to problem solving and generating and adapting to new ideas. As a person I am quite flexible in adapting and responding to new ideas. My merit on Verbal reasoning skill test I stand on 24th percentile which interprets my ability to comprehend and response to written communication. I belief it is an important part of my personality that I can analyze the written material well and comprehend it. The type dynamics indicator tags me to be an Energizer. It’s the kind where a person is expected to be very warm and optimistic. They have on schedule working time, which prefers to work before hand, accept challenges openly and likes to work in groups by bringing the best out of them. Energizers are supposed to be very influential leaders and with the quality of being social to all they are able to refresh the team spirit and make them enthusiastic and optimistic about their work. I like to work in teams and enjoy a friendly and comfortable atmosphere in the working environment. To improve my merit I belief I can work harder when working in a practical field. When exposed to different situations one reacts in a different manner, I belief I am a flexible person who is ready to respond to change and welcome it if it’s for betterment. It is a brief description about my personality how I am and how I respond to my surroundings. According to the tests I took. I firmly believe these are my actual traits as a person and it helps me to judge myself and interpret my qualities as a worker. Goals are important in life; I believe it keeps us on the right track as it provides us with an agenda, a target to achieve in life. Goals may b long term that need to be accomplished in longer time period of 10 years and goals might be short term that can be achieved in shorter span of time. It provides with directions and also keeps us relevant with respect to our work. It is an accomplishment to achieve (Rouillard, 2003). My KSA: Today the leading organizations hunt for young fresh talent to become a part of their organization. The recruiters of today look for focused and well qualified candidates that can introduce and gel with the advancement of the organization. I have done my graduation from private high school with 97% GPA. From the very beginning I have been a determined and focused student. As a part of my qualification I would like to add that I am competent in using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. My curricular activities include my participation in two conferences which involved travelling and meeting other people. Along with that I have been active in sports especially in football. I am bilingual, can speak fluent English and Arabic which I belief is helpful when it comes to dealing in an international organization where one has to deal with people from different countries and cultures. I thoroughly enjoy travelling learning new things about different people. I am a committed hardworking individual who understands that time is the first priority and the work should be delivered on time with right requirement fulfilled. I have strong communication skills and creative mind blended together I am able to interact with people in a more gracious manner. My ultimate goal is to attain the highest position in a company but I am a struggler. I have always desired to work at good job where I can apply my learning concepts and evaluate myself where I stand at any position in the company. I work firstly for my own satisfaction that I believe comes from results I get out of myself. According to the profile test I took I have a major rating in confronting a situation that is to deal with it face to face with right and required attitude. When a problem comes I deal it with patience and creativity to think all the possible solutions and also backups for the plans and procedures. Finance and investment is a profession which demands sharp numerical skills and perfect negotiation and persuading skills which I believe I have and can use with the situation. I am an excellent communicator evidently, I enjoy working in groups and produce a better result which indicates that I am able to communicate and interact with people nicely. I am a mentally and emotionally balance person when it comes to work, never get carried away with emotions or mental pressure. I respect and balance my professional and personal life well as I realize the importance of both in my life. I am a person who believes in results, I let my work speak for myself. According to it the minor ratings are mostly in dealing things physically which not a necessary part of my profession but I would like to work on it. I am an eager learner who believes that there is always room for improvement according to other perspective thus I would like to improve on my draw backs. When working practically I belief I would get over my weaknesses as practice makes man perfect. I believe with all these skills I am suitable for any respectable organization of Finance and Investing. Looking at the current employees in the organization I believe I am just missing on the experience that I expect to get from the opportunity I am blessed with in future. LEADERSHIP: I define leaders as person who has a vision, a drive and a commitment to achieve that vision, and the skills to make it happen. Leadership can be defined as an ability to influence a group of people to accomplish the desired goals. There are several types of leaders: Bureaucratic leader: it is the leader which follows the procedures as they have been established. For instance such kind of leadership is used in banks where employees are supposed to follow the set rules and regulations. Charismatic leader: these involves leader who inspire their team members by diffusing eagerness and commitment into them. Such leaders are used for long term goal and usually the managers of companies who need to take a group of people together in one direction and motivate them to work hard. Autocrat leader: this involves leader who have the complete authority to take the decision and make changes. This style is common to people who own a company. Democratic leader: it involves one or employees to take the decision, though the leader has the authority of final call. (Northouse, 2010) It is important for a leader to have certain qualities through which he can be distinguished from others and carry out his responsibilities more effectively. The skill that any leader should possess includes: Motivator: a leader should motivate his team towards the path of achieving goals. He should be well aware of the strengths and weaknesses of his team and should be able to use them accordingly in the right situation. (Bruce, 2006) Should make the team to work as one to achieve one goal. Planner: A leader needs to be a good planner. He should always be prepared and store a backup plan. A leader should always have an outline of what he intends to do or make his team do (Meyer, 2008) . A leader should be able to take all the cognitive decisions on behalf of its team realizing the importance of their benefits and hard work. Exploit Opportunities: A leader should be eager enough to interpret a situation as an opportunity and exploit it well to make it work in your favor. He should be aware of the strengths and weaknesses of all its team members and thus use them wisely. Anticipate Change: a leader should be able to anticipate change and accept it first to make his employees belief and accept and implement it. Effective Communicator: a leader should have an extra ordinary communication skills which not only includes writing and verbally but overall communication. He should be well aware of the types of communication and how to use the right one at the right time. Communication is an important technique one most knows to survive in an organization. I belief one should be flexible and familiar with the types of communication. I am more of a direct and circular communicating person according to situation. I acknowledge the importance of time and therefore try to be direct with my point whatever I have to say to my senior or opponents. I trust the fact the brief and accurate we are in presenting the better the message is conveyed. However I do realize the importance of in depth presentations where we need to communicate the information in details. Mostly it is when giving a detailed report of a project. I have a tendency to provide and take care of every possible minute detail to make my boss satisfied with the report I have handed over. The remaining types of communication I belief are required according to situation. At different situations we need to communicate in a different manner and I am comfortable and flexible with each. I am aware of how to use them and in what situation to convey my message to the receiver.
