Who Will Take Care of the Elderly? Summary of the Problem: Survival in this day and age depends upon a number of factors, most significant of which encompass how humanity finds food and water in order to live. This is dependent on the ecological system that man is essentially a vital part of. What is required is an understanding that the resources at hand do not become deplete with the passage of time. A fair amount of comprehension in this regard would save the people from a number of issues that may come up. When this has been gained an insight into, the next step is to find out who will be at the mercy of such issues. The elderly would seem to miss out since they would always be doing their utmost for the well-being of the young ones and especially the toddlers (Smolicz, 1983). This raises quite a few alarms in the eyes of the people who govern the resources that are available in this day and age. The question which arises here is that the elders would not be taken care of in the midst of looming problems and issues. Somebody has to step up and do the needful in order to bring solace and comfort within the lives of the elderly nonetheless. This remains a problem that the world has to focus upon and more so within these current times. How this will happen is an important point which will be covered within the length of this exploratory report. The problem has to be analyzed from a number of angles in order to reach a consensus. List of Stakeholders: When the discussion centers on how the elders will be taken care of, what is deemed as significant under such arguments is how they will be looked after in the long term scheme of things. What this suggests is to find pathways which will bring upon solution rather than any more pressing problems (Nicholls, 2009). The stakeholders of this issue remain the young and mature adults. The onus as far as responsibility remains on the adults who have to find a way or two to make sure that the elderly do not feel left out of the whole scenario. This dictates how their relationships will remain as they are and would not seem to become sour at the end of the day. It also suggests how success can be achieved within such ranks because the elders usually have a say in the different matters that surround the basis of the adults and that too with good reason and experience which is handy for just about everyone. Positive change can therefore be manifested through the realms of the people who have brought about an empathy angle for their elders and who seem to care a great deal about their elders (Tadd, 2005). When this happens, things start to shape up properly and the issues die down quickly. This would mean that the concerns are addressed within quantifiable proportions and that there is harmony achieved under all circumstances and situations as far as the elders are related. The stakeholders therefore have to play their decisive role in order to document their perspective once and for all to make sure that understanding is achieved at all ranks. Analysis of Points of View: A few significant viewpoints that have arisen from the debates which have centered on the taking care of the elderly surround the discussion as per their role and function in the coming times, and that the adults and even the children would merit would significance. Understandably, this might seem imperative and doable but the fact of the matter remains etched in the fact that the elders need to be respected for who they are and what they bring with them – sheer experience, at the end of the day. There just does not seem to be any substitute available for the immense knowledge and experience with which they have spent their lives. This needs to be analyzed in order to know where anomalies arise from and how these can be comprehended within the relevant settings. Another point of view that arises under the taking care of the elderly debate is how the resources would be justified in accordance with their fair distribution since the elders have already had their share covered yet somehow this will be falling short of the expected count in the future (Mordey, 2010). This is something that poses as a problem for the adults and even the elderly in this day and age, and makes them think where they might be going wrong. The corrective measures on their part would suggest the right foot forward and discard any negative aspects which may arise in the coming times. Hence analyzing these different points of view would mean immense understanding for one and all, and to bring all of these stakeholders on to the same level. This is what is needed at the end of the day. Explanation of Roadblocks: There are a number of roadblocks in the wake of determining the perfect solution for the problem at hand. This is however dependent on the people who wish to bring a change and that too for the betterment of the society as a whole. The elderly must be taken in the same stead as are the children and even the adults themselves. When this happens, all pending issues would die down and hence an atmosphere of optimism and empathy would start developing as a result of the same (Weiner, 2009). This is the best foot forward as far as comprehending significant pointers within the relevant debate. It will take care of the problems that the society feels itself engulfed within and since one is at it, the manner in which the elderly of the future who are indeed the mature adults of today are treated will be defined in a proper way. When this happens, the roadblocks would seem to get away from the subject at hand and much sanity will start to prevail in essence. This is what is required when one wishes to gain an understanding into how problems could be solved in an amicable way. Definition of the Problem: To sum up the discussion at hand, the need is to find out where the problem could be resolved in a manner that there is a great amount of empathy involved by the people who bring in the required changes. When this happens, one can easily suggest that the elders need to be respected, given their share and understood because they deserve to. They are the saviors of the society and hence an all-out understanding on the part of the people is much required here. The problem must not keep lingering and should be resolved at the earliest so that the collective goodwill within the domains of the society becomes apparent at the very end (Linturi, 2000). This is what is required and should be always as such within any society of the world. This report therefore finds a link amongst various issues that the elders have to face in this day and age due to lack of resources, the technological boom and other significant factors. The need is to outline where problems remain and how these could be resolved for a better understanding of many aspects – which then again is something that brings much solace and comfort for the elderly within any society of this world in this day and age.
