Introduction I am currently working as a freelance consultant in the rail industry. Working as a freelance consultant in the rail industry requires somebody who is updated with the current technology advancement. Working in this field costs me a lot of time, effort, and money while advancing and developing my career level to update with the advanced technology used in the rail industry (Great Britain & Great Britain, 2013). In addition, working as a freelance consultant in the rail industry requires one to undergo through specific courses to be able to fit in the employment. Due to lack of employer’s support, I was able to identify the necessary courses on my own through evaluation of technological changes and advancement and trends in the environment and investment. I am also putting more efforts to develop my experiences and skills to enable me sustain in the rail industry as a freelance consultant. I have acquired much development experiences within my current job. These developmental experiences have occurred primarily due to the changes that are taking place around the freelance consultant job such as technological advancements. I have been able to take advantage of this job because I have a number of roles to play, which helps me to improve and develop my skills and experience as a consultant. A large number of the experiences I have received within my current job are as a result of the special roles given to me. For instance, I am sometimes assigned the role of starting up construction projects or troubleshooting responsibilities. I am currently working as a Consultant Project Engineer in the rail industry. My main responsibility involves creating relationship with international clients. The duty of my team is to ensure that construction and approval of designs are on time and within the budget. My main duty was to serve as the clients’ representative to ensure that there is a good relationship between the clients and the contractors as well as ensuring a smooth process and resolving problematic issues. It is also my duty to review the construction designs and allocation of resources for all work packages. It is also my responsibility to plan and manage all activities and daily projects’ reports/sheets, create materials’ bills, attend clients’ meetings, identify and control risks and liaise within the workplace. My qualifications and experience that enables me to work as a freelance consultant came from my previous occupations. I have previously worked as a project manager in Network Rail on Wessex and Sussex Train project. My duties in this project were to manage and plan all records of sources as well as creating parallel design agreements between the Network Rail, contractors, and National Record Group for all work packages. I have been evaluating construction designs as well as undertaking other duties as a project engineer consultant. Below is a description of the responsibilities that my job involves me in. Implementation of Network Rail procedures and systems in order to ensure high quality, cost effective, environmentally free and safe design approaches, commissioning, as well as organizing other technical design activities relevant to the projects. Providing advices to the project team to ensure that the industry offers quality construction activities as well as commissioning and testing. This is to ensure that all the construction activities adhere to the rules and regulation of current U.K. legislation. Skills and experiences I have worked as a freelance consultant in the Rail Industry and my job has enabled me to gain relevant skills and experiences. During the years that I have served as a freelance consultant, I have gained experience that makes me capable of managing any type of construction project. The following are the relevant experiences and skills that my current job has enabled me to attain. Delivering projects that are timely, cost effective, and of high quality according to the standards of the Network Rail. I am now able to provide quality, cost effective, and constituent projects and designs to the clients as well as creating an international relationship with the clients. I have the experience of providing detailed input that is necessary for compilation of professions and business plans. I have experience in controlling change in projects, contingency and risk management within the life cycle of a project as well as providing all contingencies, costs, and details of a project. With the above gained experience by working as a freelance consultant in the Rail Industry, I am now able to work as a consult on any project. For instance, I have served as a consultant in many construction projects such Saudi Railway Organisation on the Double Track and Line Upgrade projects. During these projects, I was playing the role of managing projects’ change, installation, and reviewing of construction designs on behalf of the clients. I am now able to work for different employers. This is because, my current job requires me to involve in various departments such as planning and assurance and thus, this has given me enough confidence that I can work for different employers as well as managing different construction projects.
