Countryside or the The quest for better life has been every parent’s dream to offer to their children. In the current modern society, Municipal life has been a source of good news to perplexed parents. The choice of where to bring up their children has always been a heated debate. It is beyond any reasonable doubt that both lives have their share of advantages and disadvantages in comparison to the other. Life in the metropolitan cities like New York comes with its own basket of gifts and one cannot also ignore the couple of challenges, (Dickson, p 33). This paper intends to critically analyze the advantages that children in the cities have over the ones in the country side. The task of bringing up children in the cities as well is faced with more of the positive gains to the kids than when they have been brought up in the country side. Excellent education systems and institutions in the cities are facilities and necessities that children grow enjoying. The availability of resources like the modern libraries is generally found in major cities. These kind of well-equipped resources are hard nuts to crack in the country sides. It is evident that quality education offered to our children goes a long way in mentoring what outcome that we expect from our children. The top cream of such availability and accessibility of such modern equipment’s are available in our major cities, (Dickson, p 59). The variety of such institutions cannot be compared as to what is available the rural set-up. It’s unfortunate, that at some instances, a six year old pupil will not be in a better position to read, write and comprehend English as a media of communication whereas a pupil with an urban set up the pupil will be fluent in more than one foreign language. The children in the country side have been noted to engage in learning through heavy use of mother tongue. This hinders early child development in the rural areas, as opposed to the exposure of cosmopolitan child in the city. The availability of learning support services in the cities is well distributed, un-like the rural areas that might be overstretched, (Dickson, p 150). This kind of empowerment through the integrated curriculum is a norm in the cities as compared to the country side form of education. We have more often than not been referred to hospitals in the cities. Parents put this factor into consideration whenever they start up a family. In the country side it has widely dispersed medical care centers. Bearing in mind the rate at which the young children do fall ill, it’s more advantageous to be in the city environs. In case of un-fore seen emergencies the children in the city are more likely to access the best quality profession care in the city, (Herrick p 92). Parents with young growing children can testify that when the children are un-well everyone’s nerves freeze. Young children are weak as their immunity has not fully formed. Herrick C. It’s not a common scenario for the children in the country side as some have very long distant to cover to get the established hospitals and health care centers. Special attention needs to be taken on the wellbeing of our children. Risk management and transfer of risks to established insurance companies is no longer a luxury but a need. Most of these insurance organizations where someone accesses the necessary information are located in the cities. Those in the country side might be forced to travel long and time consuming trips to get the same information. In his strong message despite the introduction of internet across the globe as a medium of communication those in the country side have a great challenge in access of the same information that children in the cities are exposed to. Children who are city dwellers are exposed to more recreational centers as compared to those in the rural areas. These recreational centers nurture the children gifts and talents. There are several events that young energetic children can utilize their hidden talent as compared to those in rural set up, (Wall, p 7). The recent rise in demand for comedians and dancers professionals just to mention a few are some of the upcoming careers that need to be tapped. Children in the cities are exposed well as compared to their counter parts in these fields. It has been noted that we are all born with different gifts and talents, the realization of same at early stages in life help tap talents reducing the chances of them going down the drain. Children in the city are in a position to utilize this opportunities and develop them leading to responsible citizens, (Wall, p 32). Availability of resources like the theatre, playing grounds and support from organization boosts the morale of the children in the city. This eliminates the chances of ill civilization. The child’s development is the identification of the child strong and weak points. Motivation is highly encouraged by Wall. Wall points out that the city is the lightening rod to our children. The children should well channel to creative thinking to the best they can be in the society. She has well cited that radio and television shows should be part of their growth pattern. Parents, guardians and all the stake holders should carefully nurture our children to have un-matched talents in sports field. She emphasizes that contact with nature was the best way to grow spiritually, physically and emotionally. This is a fact that cannot be looked down upon. In her book, the author has struck the balance between work and play for our children. Cities are cosmopolitan areas with a high population ratio in comparison to the country side. The need to merge with other races is a skill that is developed with in human beings. Children who grow in large high populated areas are more likely to be social than those exposed to sparsely populated environs. Interpersonal skills are developed well in early childhood development. The children as they grow they are able to create a peer network, (Sigelman and Rider, p 94).Further development as the get the teenage age they spend more of the precious time with this peers more than they do with the parents. At this age they have started identifying their gender, friends and then ones they can share stuff with. Our children’s developments are not limited at any given point. They do advance with technology as well and develop social network. With the current of technology they are slowly absorbed in social sites, (Sigelman and Rider, p 132). Proper guidance is needed to let our children develop in the positive direction. This is not necessary the case in the Country side. Sigelman C.K., “Rider E.A, Life- Span Human Development. In their book the authors have demonstrated the need for parents to have a well laid out plan in their children development. The book is well written shedding light on the environment that parents choose to bring the children. It has been clear that the facilities that we expose our children, has a lot to do with whom they are likely to hanging around with. Children are mirror image of the parents and the environment they grew up in. The two authors do not miss their point when they refer to the integrated cultures that we have. They acknowledge the diverse world around us. They explain more on what capacities parents have over the career and development of their children. Those brought up in business culture are 60 per cent going to end up in pursuing business related fields. Some will own their businesses, whereas those brought up in the rural areas may have hereditary traits that will attract them in the fields they are familiar with. On the other hand children who grow the country side are believed to have the right morals. According to many of our society perception, tendency to have the boy child favored are always higher. There is no equity for the girl child. It’s not the case in the urban set up where there is equal distribution of resources among all the genders. The rural ethnographical evidence, show that beyond any reasonable doubt the girl child is more often than not faced with harsh harassment in this male-dominated farm environment, (Shortall, p 52). The rural set up is fine to raise our children, but the fair competiveness lacks between the ones in the urban as compared to the children in the city. The imbalance in rural urban migration has thus denied our children the full rights to have them same share, as to those offer in the urban set-up. Accessibility of facilities like proper infrastructures like the supper speed rail way systems, sub-ways and the like make it difficult to access this vital facilities, (Shortall, p 132). The time consumed in getting to get to the intended pose a serious challenge in bringing up the children in an environment that is conductive for learning and other amenities. He cites matters of concern to our parents on the burning issue of equitable distribution of resources. He is very clear on the trend that have deep roots on the cultural values practiced in the rural areas. He is marveled by the way religious leaders guard their territory making it hard for the female child to have a bright future as compared to the urban set-up.
