Reflective Report Reassessment College: Part Reflection It is the aim of every to do much better and go to the next or improveperformance and have a better grade. However, some fail because they are unable to meet the expectation as well as the standards set by the institution. This occurs because of reasons, which differs from every individual. Each student is unique in his or her context, which brings the difference in performance. I am one of the students who failed the module and reflective report. Many factors contributed towards my failure in all these. One of the reasons why I failed the module was because I had my time compressed. I found it difficult dedicating reasonable amount of time doing the module because I was engaged in other additional activities. They tended to take much of my time leaving very little to read the module. Secondly, I failed because I was working on the project that also had a definite period and requirements. I was unable to balance the project by doing it and at the same time reading the module and doing the reflective report. Thirdly, examination contributed to my failure in the module because I was preparing for it. Examination is one of the core activities that a student is expected to do while in school and I gave it a priority at the expense of the module. It contributed to my failure. One of The three things I could have done better is time management through developing a timetable for all my activities. Secondly, I could have read the module by dedicating time and sobering up. Thirdly, I could have consulted the tutor. This is so because it could have eased my understanding of the module to stop the failure I encountered. Tutors play a vital role in helping students overcome their reading difficulties and weaknesses. Part 2: Independent Learning It is my wish and of any student in the school to have a proper understanding of the module as well as to graduate within the time frame of the course. However, many fail to achieve the dream because of unpreparedness and failing of examinations. One of the ways of overcoming all these is by developing a better way of understanding the module or subject. Understanding the subject enables a student to familiarize himself or herself with the concepts as well as the contents. Hence, it becomes easy for one when tackling examination or talking about the subject since facts are in the finger. International relation is one of the subjects in political science that keeps on changing every day hence the need to update oneself with latest information. One of the learning activities I plan to embark on towards a better understanding of the course is extra reading. Reading is the basic of knowing or gaining knowledge. Therefore, I will be reading journal articles, chapters from books and internet sources on topics touching on the subject. I believe there are many current affairs on the internet sources that will be of help in my case. Moreover, journal articles on my subject area will be very vital in my case because it will help in expanding my knowledge on the subject matter. Over the years, many scholars have updated the literatures on the current affairs since history do not repeat itself frequently as other subjects. Therefore, conducting extensive reading on selected topics will contribute to personal developments and help me overcome the challenges encountered in the course. Secondly, I would learn on new vocabularies or new words that touch on the international relation. Describing an event using the ideal term is very important because it assist the reader in understanding the topic or the subject matter of the writer. In many cases, people or students have failed to deliver the intended information because they use unfamiliar or wrong words when describing something or an event. I believe learning new vocabularies on my area of specialization or on the selected topic will be vital in helping improve my understanding and better my performances. It will also ease my understanding when reading literature related to the subject because I will be familiar with most of the terms normally used when describing events. Thirdly, I will attend talks and conferences that relates on my subject. There are many symposiums and talk shows as well as seminars that are organized within me and I feel they are essential learning ground. Today, many people are concerned about international relation because of the increasing need for the nations to come together in fighting the emerging threats from global warming, terrorism, Ebola among other epidemics. Because of such situations and epidemics, talk shows and symposiums on my subject are many. I believe attending such events will help improve my understanding and learn about new concepts as well as hidden issues, which are not documented in the literature. My subject based research on international relation tells me that the field require constant updates on the existing knowledge. Relationship among nations keeps on changing since they have diverse interest. Today, nations come together if they want to achieve something in common or want to share. Similarly, nations are competing for the few natural resources, which are vital for their economic development (Sjoberg, 2015). Failures to satisfy their aims always lead to conflict as in the case of the US and the Arab world because of oil. Hence, a student of international relation must be acquainted with latest information regarding the relation of nations as well as their competing nature. This calls for frequent updates by conducing intensive research or reading latest journal articles as well as current affairs in the leading international media stations. Part 3: Developing plan for next year The process of learning is never ending and it takes an individual a lifetime to learn. People never leave learning since there are more to learn than what one has learnt. Similarly, students learn by passing through stages. Currently, I am in college but I plan to upgrade and enroll for a degree program. Hence, I need to develop a plan for next year on what I expect or I want to learn. One of the things or plan for next year is learning different referencing styles. Learning referencing styles under communication skills is very important when writing a research paper. For instance, students are expected to write research papers using different writing styles such as APA, MLA, Chicago, and Harvard among others. Because of this, it is vital for me to plan and develop strategies on best ways to learn how to do all these. One of the best ways of learning referencing skills will be to book workshop training before enrolling for a degree. Secondly, I will learn writing a research proposal. Dissertation paper forms one of the units for those enrolled in the degree program and begins by a research proposal. I will ensure that I have all the required knowledge to complete a research proposal so that I do not get difficulties when enrolled. I will ensure I achieve this by buying books that teaches writing proposals and research. Similarly, I will attend workshops that teach people ways of wring research proposals. Thirdly, I want to improve the use of vocabulary. I understand that use of key words is very important when writing a research paper and it encourages me to do more about it and know. Therefore, I plan to add some vocabularies relating to the subject matter. Through this, I will add weight to the papers I will be writing when in the university. To do this, I will be reading encyclopedia and dictionary on words that relates to international relation. Part 4: conclusion The subject I want to study next year is international relation. This is because I want to know or gain knowledge on why nations relate the way they do. Over the year, we have seen the US very reluctant and withdrawing its troops from the Middle East nations. This was contrary to the last decades when other presidents were taking troops the east. A very interesting development is worth learning. Moreover, international relation subject will help me know the competing interest among the nations, more so among the three leading continents namely North America, Europe, and Asia. I am motivated by studying undergraduate next year because it will be a step in the education ladder. I am motivated to learn more things and widen the scope of knowledge. Learning more things increases the opportunities for goodies. Similarly, I am motivated because I will enter the gateway to the ideal career. My future career is being an international advisor on international relation. This is because I shall have gained more knowledge on the subject and I will be helping people inform of consultancy services. Similarly, I can work in this position in any other international, regional or national organization that deals with international issues. My advice to the next year IFY students is that they need to work hard and choose career that they believe they will enjoy. It is not always easy to choose a career but it is easy with determination.
