Personal Reflection: My Road as a Senior Communication Advisor al Affiliation I have to agree that management is innate in me, and I love it with a passion. I have with time come to encompass the good qualities, which includes the ability to the respond to foibles and pitfalls. The course further gave me the ability to think positively. Studies by, Tzelatis and Berberidis (2014, p. 143) proved to me that for every manager, a degree of competency is worth of developing and imitating. I was with time engaged in management comprehensively, having generated these skills. I being the manager I had to have an ability to remain persistent, edged, and genuine. Likewise, I being the manager, I had to be confident and presumptuous. Equally important, I had to be enthusiastic, charming, passion and pontificated. I had to have an ability to support others and spearhead solutions in a problem-solving manner. Evenly, I had to drive to support others and spearhead solutions that would solve problems. Similarly, I had to have a desire to serve others, be respectful, sensitive to their needs and expectations, and nurture ability become a passive manager. As well, I had to have prior knowledge on how the industry operates, by having passion, for continued growth and perfection. Studies by Kozakiewicz (2014, p. 186), also taught me how to encompass all positive characteristics and qualities that encapsulate the desirable manager. I have with time managed to develop authentic skills. This has helped me to relinquish all the self-imposed pressure to perform or look good and manage in a healthy manner. For instance, I learned how different departments work. As such, I had to follow a path that encompasses the entire coaching system. I have to take the time to craft the right questions in order to get the salespeople involved in the conversation. As part of the passion, I have to deliver value in every conversation and honor what other people are doing inside the organization. Per se, I will encounter little resistance and only minor pushback when it is time to hold people accountable for the goals and results. As well, the academia has solidified my abilities to become a genuine humble leader who embraces vulnerabilities. Backed by Zawadzki (2013, p. 18), I believe that I am driven by the higher self to deliver value and make an impact instead of being ego. I as well came to note that I had an ability to be true about myself without attempting to emulate other people. I, therefore, plan to use tools and approaches that complement and align with my personality. This plan will include values, talents, strengths and ultimate coach that I can relate. To develop a momentum in my career, I will start by listing three key things that will make me a different manager altogether. I plan to pick aggression, positive communication and team commitment. The communication checklist contains a list of concepts and communication strategies that I can work. I further plan to pursue the management passion, since passion is a positive in our lives, passion is action oriented. Passion limits negativity that might hurt my management strategies. I concur that management is a systematic and orderly strategy, which instill predictability in a situation that controls the environment. I concur with; Kozarkiewicz and Lada (2014, p. 187) that I am obliged to monitor processes and policies to minimize errors. I have therefore planned to focus on the past and reflect on the present to determine the future. I believe that companys roadmap will be followed closely if I maintain the strategy mentioned earlier. I will foster the creation of roadmap, by designing the units map, goals, and objectives and setting directions by aligning people and ensuring that the maximum of a product is achieved. I will also develop the ability to influence, inspire and motivate other teammates. I will focus on the management current, next month and distant future. As well, the academic has taught to take management as a change agent. Supportively, Beard (2015, p. 5) believes that the change agents should be concerned with the awareness of the passions of the employees and stakeholders. A mistaken focus on planning at the exclusion of passion that can lead to the micromanagement of a change initiative, that in turn results to the loss of any sense of purpose and spirit. I plan to foster communication as a way to maximize freedom and trust of employees. In this case, I will operate the core of a servant leader that I will embrace the spiritual dimension of work and organization life and willingly accepting accountability for the spiritual well-being of employees. I will encourage teammates to put their spiritual values to work, their quality of work life increases when the quality of work expands. This should be accompanied by motivation, performance levels and increase of motivation and performance levels. Overview: Role as a Corporate Communications Adviser I am eyeing the role of Corporate Communication Adviser. My chief obligation is to persuade and provide support to all departments. I will formulate core messages more clearly and monitor processes. My role is to keep the management from lapsing into jargon since they cannot handle bad news. The communication advisor is to convince the management that I can cope with less positive messages. I will communicate a break down the fortress mentality that is an essential to the staff and have an understanding of the insight and job of their colleagues do. Likewise, I will handle the organization publicity and oversee a variety of existing communication inside the organization. I will ensure I have with time developed skills of interacting with various media outlets and public groups. Studies by Yousaf (2014, p. 18), have advised me that I should adopt the centralized communication strategy. I will, therefore, have creditability of the audience and be articulate, understand the media and know the technical aspects in terms of a crisis. Likewise, I have the ability to remain calm under pressure. In case of a crisis, the elected official and customer will have connective relationships. I will direct my immediate department, public relations on how the respond to the media in case of crises. I being the person to address the media, I should be pleasant to the camera when answering the question. I as well plan to create and maintain positive relationships with media representatives. Given the freedom, the rapidness and the abruptness of media houses, it is advisable to keep ahead by befriending them. These companies will naturally force information, to maintain their firm well supplied with news. For that reason, I will come up with a weekly, monthly and annually press release to ensure that these media houses will have something to report on regularly. As such, I will encourage the formation of media unit that will be concerned in developing news to be communicated to the public. The goal is to contain media houses before they concerned with the company businesses. In case of that special need, I will be required to the respond to specific media inquiries. As stated, I will have a specific media department comprised of journalists research people. The research department will focus in investigating street news, and supplying the department with up to date information. In the era of investigative journalism, need for CSRs, and constant watch by rival companies, it is advisable to note what is trending In addition, I plan to use the company Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, pages as official releases of the company information. The social media approach will seem appropriate to the nature of the organization. The goal is to ensure that I develop the right strategies that will be integrated with the team proactively. The media strategies will help me determine what should be done, why it should be done and how it should be done. I as well plan to come with official press release weekly and monthly. I also plan to become full-time columnists in all the company report releases. The goal is to ensure that I publish the appropriate news, standing of the firm and the objectives of my department. Evenly, I plan to prepare different materials for communication, this include, annual reports, brochures, corporate announcements, news releases and others. I will designate a full department, which will be publishing information. The goal is to ensure that news remain coherent as we continue conveying information to the public. This way I will keep the public well communicated about the company current position on critical matters. To achieve my goals, I plan to integrate 7Cs of communication. Ideally, the 7Cs of communication involve, concise, concrete, correct, coherent, courteous, complete, and clear. This way, I will be able to engage a comprehensive stakeholder communication plan. 7Cs will enable me orient a possible team, mission, and objectives to effectively communicate these goals with the stakeholder. Wehmeier and Winkler (2013, p. 280) claims that the ability to communicate with the team in the first 100 days is very crucial since it ensures that different objectives are met. As such, being an effective communicator will allow me to address the team concerns and interests. The team concerns, in this case, include, what are the plans, what are we trying to achieve in these plans. What am I expected to do by the team? As well as, whether I am doing a good job in communicating on behalf of the company. These concerns investigate whether we understand the company needs and whether we can meet these needs. We will be required to investigate whether the team communication is in place with the team expectations. As well, there will be the need to investigate whether these methods can deliver communication appropriately. As such, I will be required to create individual communication plans. This will be possible to maximize the overall corporate and department initiatives. I will achieve this by officially providing a communication blueprint, which specifies what should be communicated, why it should be communicated and how it should be communicated. I will use the company ERP to share these objectives with other departments. I will as well encourage the creation of specific corporate and department initiatives. Educational and Experimental Background Given the partial management positions available in most companies, it is inevitable to the defeat the laying reasons. For that reason, some companies are collapsing some management positions into hierarchies task groups. Supportively, Underman and Myslivcova (2014, p. 45) believes member assumes proper managerial and production accountability for the some aspects of an assigned project. This involves engagement of the managerial chain of command. The management needs to be spread out management tasks and tend to increase productivity, eliminate bureaucratic buck-passing, red tape, and boost morale. This results to the more efficient use of the company time, material, space and money as well as personnel. Managers are required to lead these groups. In order to become a successful communication advisor from experience that can be acquired from the course I have been pursuing. My education as a business corporate communication adviser is based upon fundamental courses I have been pursuing. The subjects that I have tackled with time have solidified my approach as a business manger. These subjects include business communication, education, history, languages, psychology, sociology, public relations, information technology and journalism. These subjects provide me with effective communication in business, but simply such disciplines foster creativity, inquisition, integration and analytical attitudes. For that reason, I have learned to combine a number of opposing attributes, to be creative, analytical, and flexible as well as focused. I being an effective communicator, I enjoy learning across a wide variety of subjects, which have knowledge of current events and reasonably comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty. In addition to knowledge, flexibility, and skills, these subjects have ensured that I have the appropriate best mindset in order to reflect the best communication strategy. The subjects have also solidified my understanding on a code of ethics. This is translated as a principle behavior. I am, however, careful not to violate communication law, especially if it relates to the first amendment rights, libel, and slander. I learned that concept from my history and philosophical background. Some communicators, in fact, have to know the law intimately. In such a case, I have understood investor relations practitioners, for instance, which must be schooled in the law of securities, financial disclosure, and insider trading. After discussing with my academic advisor, I came to learn that I should be creative within the confines of virtually any writing situation. My advisor made me understand the versatility, which can be adopted on many different styles. The courses that my advisor encouraged me to take, prepared me to be versatile and adaptable which introduced me a variety of writing tasks, with teachers who were good editors and writers as well. My advisor encouraged me to be fond with my communication skills on technical writing, technical editing, business writing, public relations writing, and marketing communication. Other important categories that he encouraged me to focus on, including feature writing, script writing, news writing, report writing, rhetoric writing, communication research writing, and managerial communication. My mentor also encouraged me to the orient the appropriate oral skills. Oral skills, in this case, expanded my interpersonal approach, to public speaking abilities, which are indispensable for anyone in communication. I knew at some point I will be required to call upon a brief or persuade fellow writers, managers, editors, staff personnel, and members of other departments, clients, and media. The competence in interpersonal and small group communication will be tested by listening, meeting, and interviewing, negotiating and non-verbal communication. I will maintain proficiency in these areas, by enrolling investigation in public speaking, small group communication, interviewing, intercultural communication, argumentation, negotiation and intercultural communication. My mentor also informed me that visual communication was very important in a business setting. Writers in business communication and manufacturing will increasingly be expected to integrate text and graphical elements. Production courses in visual arts introduced me to business writers, which help solve potential problems and solutions that are inherent to design decisions. He, therefore, advised me to pursue at least three of these courses in return. This learning included desktop publishing, computer-mediated design, typographic and design, publication design, presentation graphics, visual communication theory and photography. Likewise, I was to pursue video production and visual communication management. As a result, I came to learn that the corporation may be directly measured by my knowledge on these new computer-mediated technologies. With a grasp of written, oral, visual and computer competencies, I was capable of orienting a solid foundation, which was vital in building a communication career. This was vital in helping me devote time in acquiring expertise in specialized areas. I came to learn that although most opportunities learn a business might come from experiences, the experiences are formally through education. Successful communication in the business required me to understand how the job operated. I, therefore, acknowledged that this specialist would be effective if I considered taking at least three courses. The courses that were vital to, my experience were business policy, business law, business ethics, and economics. As well, managerial finance and marketing were a vital concern. My mentor told me that over time, my writing would become increasingly effective as I learn about the industry within my field. This kind of knowledge was required chiefly through experience by engaging in discussions, with fellow employees, and doing my daily work through trade publications. Similarly, my mentor encouraged me to have a fast command in conferences, trade shows, company meeting professional networking sessions and corporate training courses. As such, the education background should help me know about the company its technology and its marketing niche, which will help me become an effective communicator. References Beard, C. (2015).
