Abortion with drugs maybe reversed. The overheated debate of both proponents and opponents of abortion have not been proven by facts. The aim is not to take proceedings on abortion but to examine the facts of the specific provision. What proof shows whether drug induced abortion is reversible? Some argue that a woman who takes abortion drug has a right to discern that her act is reversible. All facts concerning the matter should be clearly explained to women. The state of Arizona, a battlefield for anti abortion laws became the first state pass a legislation that obliged doctors to inform women that abortion induced through drugs is reversible. The contentious bill was signed into law by Arizona governor on March 30 2015. The Senate Bill 1318 states that “A woman who takes abortion pill has a right to know her action may be reversible. Give women all the facts. Respect women. Yes on 1318”. The law is a broad step to bar insurance policies given through the federal exchange from offering coverage for specific abortions. With exemption of pregnancies that are as a result from rape, incest or could endanger a mothers life. The bill offers the required explanation to the long standing law. Proponents of abortion rights are infuriated of some stipulation on the bill. Specifically the requirement that doctors carrying out abortion should inform the woman that the results of a drug induced abortion may be reversible. However the process itself is still on the trial stage and physicians and abortion advocates claim it is not accountable to offer women the alternative. The science behind the law is based widely on the research findings of Dr.Geroge Delgado. Dr. Delgado a strong opponent of abortion claims that he was capable of saving a number of women who had started using abortion pills. The women were unable to go through the two step procedure carried out during abortion. It is an over the counter administration of hormone progesterone which is largely used by reproductive health specialists. It is authorized to use endorsed medicine by the FDA in this context and medical experts frequently opt for this method with patient approval. This is done more so when the patients condition is at risk to wait for long process approvals. Very typical the debate on abortion, the argument on both sides is strong. A conservative Dr.Cathy Herrod notes that it is unfortunate when a woman decides to go through an abortion without being informed of all the facts. Dr.Cathy head of the Centre for Arizona Policy is a strong proponent of the law. Dr.Cathy further explains that kids have been born; women have avoided the pain of abortion. There is no problem to this. There is no damage done making it known to a woman that abortion induced through drugs can be reversed. While Dr. Delgado supports the policy fully, Jodi Ligget of the Arizona Planned Parenthood terms the new legislation as hazardous and somewhat extreme. She claims that Arizona physicians have the full trust of the women. Extreme strategists are banking on this law in order to promote bad drugs. The trust is purely based on political intention rather than medicine. The fact is by a pill induced abortion; women initially take mifepristone a medicine meant to terminate a two week pregnancy. Two days later the drug misoprosotol is administered. Dr. Delgado claims that administering progesterone hormone before taking a second medicine, abortion process is reversed. Dr.Delgado a family doctor launched a website describing the process. He claims women were kept in the dark by abortion providers. Women were told that reversing abortion could cause birth defects in newborns. In his research, after administering mifepristone four out of six women took progesterone hormone carried their pregnancies to full term. Documented cases show that 87 women gave birth to healthy babies after the process, while another 75 were still expectant after taking progesterone hormone. Consequently, indicating 60 percent achievement. Dr.Delgado asserts there are no major difficulties not except for normal side effects of the hormone progesterone. So how certain is it that progesterone administered that worked other than the unpredictability of the two pills. Dr.Mary Davenport, Delgado’s associate researcher admits there is no proof that each baby born was the effect of progesterone intake. But both researchers pointed out that 60 percent achievement level is better compared to the highest number 50 percent. Also, a 2009 finding by Mitchell Creinin a researcher of the mifepristone pill noted figures from the 80s and presented a number between of 7-40 of women who had full term pregnancies after having mifepristone. Dr.Dan Grossman of Ibis Reproductive Health notes that initial research injected 600mg of the first pill whereas the present dosage is about 200mg. this means lower injection gives high failure rate. But the injection levels were reduced because a combination of the two drugs was developed. Therefore there was no call for studies on the effects of just a single pill. It means that a range of 7-50perscent of women can carry pregnancy to full term after taking mifepristone alone. Not all women may give birth because others may end up miscarrying. Grossmans states that the present published findings is not proof enough to show that progesterone hormone works better after taking the first drug. In the medical field, Grossman says practitioners do not indeed change their methods, let alone findings based on reports of on going cases. Grossman laments that its unfortunate the law has been incorporated in Arizona citing from a poor study of women. Nevertheless his research findings have been widely criticized by the medical fraternity. Medical experts argue that Dr.Delgado findings are not supported by facts. Totally no knowledge to proof that reversible abortion is an effective process. The first drug is not reliably useful alone. There are restricted researches on the number of pregnancies that are carried to full term after women use the first drug. This is because researchers discovered that a combination of two drugs is definitely most reliable. Additionally if the drug fails medics intervene with emergency evacuation. The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Arizona section, point out that about 30 percent to 50 percent situations where women strictly took mifepristone eventually gave birth. This observation meant that the progesterone hormone might have minimal effect. Medical practitioners claim Dr.Delgado observations are totally a series of case findings because there is no investigation. Republican Arizona lawmakers are notorious for pursuing legislation that is meant to make it impossible for women to have abortion or even persuade them to change their stand. For example in 2010 former governor Jan Brewer signed a legislation that prevented women from aborting 24 weeks old pregnancies. However this punitive law was thrown out by the courts. In 2006 Brewers forerunner governor Janet Napolitano rejected a bill that would have forced abortion clinics to inform women having abortion that the fetus would experience pain after four weeks. Arizona State stipulates that women should see abortion providers 24 hours before engaging in the process. Also women should carry an ultra sound before going through an abortion. Current Arizona a state governor Mr.Ducey in a press statement said the law guaranteed that women have the right to know more about abortion before arriving into a medical decision. Yet opponents have condemned the law as putting uncertain information is an already stressful period for women inviting lawsuits and probably an embarrassment to the state of Arizona. This is a deeply complicated debate. There is no scientific proof that progesterone intake is the cause why women can carry a pregnancy to full term after taking mifepristone and misoprosotol pills. It may also be possible that the two drugs solely do not work sometimes. Even if Dr.Delgado approach in fact reverses the results of abortion the drugs still remain present. However it evidently is a new field of research, the medics who formulate the methods concur that it is at the trial stage. Nonetheless women may not be informed that it is a trial method. The rule simply stipulates that doctors ought to inform women that the option is available, except that it does not state the caution that come with abortion. Therefore it is deceptive to tell women that the results of abortion may be reversed. Work Cited.
