Women are Better Listeners Women have been playing a vital role in our society. Since the ancient times, they have been the pillar in the society. This is through supporting men who were initially working. Through their listening skills, they were able to listen and advise their men accordingly. This made a major difference between married and unmarried men in the society. To begin with, our mothers have been instrumental in ensuring that decisions made by our fathers do not have any repercussions on our growth and development. Confirming what many women in the society have been suspecting, the new research indicates that men use only half of their brain to listen while women use both. Though the use of a scanning technique known as magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), the study shown that there is a major difference between the neural activity of men and women who were listening to someone who was reading aloud. This paper will discuss aspects that show that the results that women are better listeners than men are true. In the current society, more women have joined the corporate world. Despite numerous limitations, organizations that are led by women perform better than those that are led by men. This is because a good leader must listen to the rest of the subordinates. As a result, women leaders are able to listen to the grievances of the rest of the employees. Therefore, they are able to understand their concern and connect closely to them. Consequently, the employees feel motivated to work in the organization. This plays a significant role in enabling the company to achieve the set objectives. This is because through effective leadership, they feel that they are an integral part of the organization. On the other hand, women are able to easily implement an open office policy. This enables the employees to communicate directly to the top office without the use of the intermediaries. This makes it easy for the leader to intervene on issues that are affecting the performance of the workforce. This is achieved through listening keenly and understanding the issue in depth thereby, making it easy for them to come up with effective solutions. This is unlike their men counterparts who are quick to make judgments even before listening to all parties that are in a dispute. Therefore, employees who are led by men tend to fear opening up because the man can react even before listening to both sides of the story. Many of the employees working in such organization opt to leave the organization, an aspect that explains why such organizations records high turnover rates. Although men are risk takers and quick to take up opportunities when they arise because they don’t necessarily have to listen to the ideas of other people, women are likely to make correct decisions because they listen and consult widely. In case an organization is taking a critical decision that might affect its overall performance, a woman is likely to listen to both the supporters and those who oppose the decision. This aspect increases the probability of making the correct decision. However, a man is likely to listen to the supporters and disregard those who oppose the decision. Such hard lines can have a major impact on the overall performance of the business. Countries led by women have less conflicts and record high growth indexes. For instance, Germany and Brazil are some of the countries that are led by women. However, during their tenure, these countries have recorded remarkable growth. This is because these leaders are able to listen to critics and make the correct decisions. Furthermore, they give their citizens an opportunity to make decisions. Although these countries are also faced by numerous challenges their listening leaders are able to incorporate everyone in decision making. This reduces the level of resistance and ensures that all citizens participate in tackling the challenge. This is not the case with countries that are led by men. Many of these leaders are quick to make decision some of which are against the will of people. This creates a lot of divisions because they do not listen to the will of the people. Instead, they only give a chance to their advisors. This aspect increases the chances of making mistakes. This explains why there are numerous contentious issues resulting from leaders taking hard positions against the will of the general population. Listening capabilities by women explains why they are passive that their men counterparts who are aggressive when making decisions. Good listeners are good planners. For decades, researchers have tried to identify the reason why women are more reserved than men. However, these results indicate that women meditate more effectively after listening keenly. In addition, they give time to other people to talk. As a result, they increase their chances of reacting out of emotions. This explains the reason why they are reactive to pressure by their men. On the other hand, men like to be listened. Nevertheless, they do not give women the same opportunity. They always like to dominate over women. However, majority of women prefer to listen rather than try to justify themselves before listening to the main ideas being given out by men. This aspect has been maintaining the relationships between men and women. This is because many women forgive their men because they know that they are not good listeners. Instead, they react out of emotions without analyzing the available options. Instead of women reacting too, they give men an opportunity to react while they listen. This prevents the situations from getting out of hand, an aspect that has been significant in ensuring that both partners continue to live together despite the differences between them. In conclusion, women across the world, for example, Chancellor Angela Merkel, President Dilma Rousseff, Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt, Prime Minister Erna Solberg, President Park Geun-hye, etc. have portrayed their listening skills through their leadership in the organizations, society, and family. This skill has been instrumental in maintaining peace in all settings where they are involved. Although men have been dominant in some positions, their women counterparts have shown that they can perform better if they are provided with the same environment. Therefore, it is true that women are good listeners than men and they keep on forgiving their men because they know that they are not good listeners. Read More
