Young Goodman Brown book’s review Goodman Brown sets out of his house for an errand thus leaving his young wife, faith all alone and afraid of what would happen at dark (Hawthorne 23). He requests her to say a prayer before sleeping and everything would be alright. Though the story is filled with aspects of suspense, it is clear as it proceed that Brown was up to no good. From the story, Brown shows both the aspects of innocence and that of corruptibility. The reason is that he believes in the good of the people that surrounded him while reckoning that the devil had taken over their minds. Initially, he believed that his father and grandfather were good Christian people until the devil emphasizes that he knew the two of them. He also believed in the insinuated Christian nature of Goody Cloyse, the deacon Gookin and the apparent minister. However, the devils reveal to him that Goody Cloyse is a witch and the deacon and the minister are his faithful followers. He believes that his dear wife faith is pure and full of Christian good until the devils reveals her true self to him. Thus according to this story, Brown is not yet aware of what he wants in terms of his religion. He juxtaposes as a Christian yet his faith is easily shaken. Thus, behind the public godliness that many people in the area wanted to be seen, they were not always Christians. The fact that Brown was willing to visit the forest knowing very well what he was going to find there was a clear indication of the corrupt nature of the faith of most Christians in the area.

...?Short Story When I was fifteen years old my family and I moved from our old town into a new area and I began at a new school. I had never been to California, until two summers ago. My family had always talked about venturing out there but when vacation time came we always settled on other options. The Grand Canyon was ok – slightly overrated if want the truth; New York was exciting a Christmas time and probably had the greatest and largest pizza this side of Sicily; I can’t complain about the week we spent at Disney World either, although do those lines really need to be that long, all day? All these family excursions were great, but I had always wanted to visit California – Hollywood,...

A Story about Love

... Chekhov Chekhov is one of the few Russian who gained critical and financial success within his own lifetime and was able to have a successful professional career while remaining an important writer in his own right. While his plays may not have been considered inspirational, his short stories form an integral part of Russian literature (Wikipedia, 2007). Amongst these stories is About Love which is very interesting since it shows Chekhov’s own viewpoints on love as much as the way love affects the characters within the story. The first example of love is the strangest as it shows how a loving wife would suffer through an abusive husband since she loves him to the extent that she would do anything for him. The characters note... as the...
