That is why her essay seems more sincere and more confessional. Her examples of lying to spouses, and employers are so simple and so familiar that as a reader it is easy to take everything she says for granted. Ericsson also uses simple non-formal language and irony as a means of reaching her audience. At every point of the classification, she supplies precise and ironic quotes which create some comfortable effect. Lutzs is more scientific in his approach to double language classification. He differentiates between four distinct types, gives formal names to each type, and describes them in detail. The author seems distant from readers and from what he is writing which makes the essay look like some entry in an encyclopedia. Nevertheless, his language is very precise and his manner of writing is persuasive.

It is difficult to say which of the classification essays is more effective as much depends on the subject of classification. In this case, the confessional style of Ericsson seems more relevant and appropriate to the topic because it is common to all people.
