Extract of sample "Advantages & Disadvantages of Monsters"

In mentioning monsters, most kids and adults alike would shake. A number of individuals have just encountered monsters from the films, which has resulted in most people asking whether such creatures exist. Well, the response is NO and YES. NO because certain monsters are as a result of human fancy, and YES because several monsters do exist past just the tag monster alone. All the same, there are those that are actually real. The challenge is determining whether they exist or not, and this requires firm subscription to the different available religious and/or spiritual beliefs. According to Shaw (p23), in Where Monsters Hide, of all the monsters that are said to exist, demons are factual. Demons refer to spirits, which were previously angels inside paradise, though were émigré to the under-earth as God’s castigation for their defiant nature. This paper will assess the different beliefs regarding the presence of demons like a class of monsters. Therefore, the thesis statement would be : demons are actual monsters mainly attributed by evil deeds and lies. For many years, the question of the presence of demons as monsters has been posed. Werber in his piece titled Experimental Studies on the Origin of Monsters I. An Etiology and an Analysis of the Morphogenesis of Monsters, studies what relates to demonic possession to prove that demons really exits, and that the only thing they do is causing humans to suffer. Also, an excerpt by Hillix , A Choice of Monsters, tries to clarify the presence of demons and angels. He explores whether or not demons still possess humans today. In an attempt to clarify his assertions, Werber(p32) states that demons do exist and that they possess human beings. In many instances if demons possess an individual, they pass on their monstrous/evil conducts and appearance to the person. He observed that even throughout the time when Jesus was on earth, he dispossessed demons from individuals. The writer explains that when this kind of monsters known as demons possesses an individual thy torment and torture the body. As such, he offers the case of a female that was possessed by dark spirits. Also, the writer shows that when this kind of spiritual monsters possess an individual, the demerit is that they result in much suffering and agony to their casualties. He provides the instance of a male whose entire body distorted in pain while he was going through the demonic possession. Werber(p65) also showed that in the instance when a psychiatrist bumped on a patient that was afterwards possessed, demons appeared to talk through her. He mentions that a few of the most frequent phrases spoken were words like “Leave her alone, Leave. She is ours.” That took place at the same time with raising off of the bed since items inside the room flew round the space. She as well issued extortions and threats to the persons surrounding her. Consequently, Hillix (p89) is less convinced to suppose that demons are real. during his interview with J.P. Moreland, a Christian philosopher, he challenges the assertions of Moreland that demons and angels are real. He tackles the theme with great skepticism. That is maybe because he does not understand what to trust. All the same, his observations as well indicate the actuality that demons are beyond just monsters. Though they appear in monstrous manifestations, they are mystical/spiritual and exercise immense control over individuals. Shaw (p45) notes in his article, Where Monsters Hide, that demons are real. They might go by diverse names like evil spirits, monsters (although this is normally based upon their look), and beast, to mention just a few. Like Werber’s piece, this article asserts that demons as a class of monsters just cause humans to suffer. Their disadvantages in people’s lives are reputations preceding them. For example, the article asserts that these monsters cause insanity among other forms of misery. An evaluation of the abovementioned opinions that are considered as representative of several other positions, one might observe that most individuals do not still understand this kind of monster. Actually, several atheists might not perceive the actuality that spiritual monsters, also known as demons, are real. Thus, the perfect evaluation for the disadvantages and advantages of this kind of monsters can merely be advanced through the religious prism. Christianity indicates that there is no good thing that demons are able to bring into the life of an individual. In fact, I suppose that spiritual monsters are viewed as the Devil’s agents. The Scripture (Holy Bible) in John 10: 10 says that such kind of monsters only come to destroy, kill, and steal. A few versions might call them thieves, although they all represent monster demons (Shaw p76). One of the most usual conception of monster was formulated when individuals wanted to offer a face to these evil spirits known as demons (monster for the basis of several other definitions). Like many that believe in the presence of demons, I as well acknowledge the fact that no goof comes from spiritual monsters. Both Christian and Islam perspective on this kind of monsters assert that after the demon lost the previous glory that bestowed to him, he went down on earth and has from then lied to humans to oppose God. As such, it has been expressed broadly that demons just target at making humans do evil things in order that God would not bless them and better their lives than theirs are. This explains why demons have all along possessed people and tormented them, as observed by Werber in his piece. He accompanies his work with graphics demonstrating that there exists no friendship between humans and such kind of monsters. In brief, there may exist several categories of monsters like shape shifters and Dracula among others. Not any of them can be noted to have any advantages at all. As is seen, they are normally at battle with humans, at times clearly for no recognized reason. What is apparent is the fact that a majority of them have caused numerous disadvantages (suffering) in the lives of humans. This is the main reason they are even referred to as monsters in the first place. When that was not the case, they could have been given nice names. It can therefore be argued that demons are exact monsters predominantly attributed with evil deeds and lies. Works Cited Hillix, W. A. "A Choice of Monsters." PsycCRITIQUES (2011). Print.
