SHORT WRITING Essay The articles describe accounts of inhumane acts that individuals moving across the border of Mexico and the United States of America undergo. There is a connection in the mode in which some individuals are treated with suspicion, and the Mexicans are perceived as inferior people. The reader encounters a statement “across the border, there was a wall of corrugated metal” (Biss, 2011, p. 90). This wall was meant to be a barrier for preventing people coming from Mexico into USA. This wall has also been described in the border patrol state “it is ironic that the U.S. government and its Border Patrol are constructing a steel wall ten feet high to span sections of the border with Mexico”(Silko, 2013, p.122). The vivid descriptions of the situation at the border come because of the narratives being personal experiences of the situation.
The narratives have a significant difference in that most of the events described by Biss occur in Mexico while Silko describes events occurring in the border. While crossing the border Biss was not subjected to the dehumanizing search, but observed that Mexicans were being mistreated, resulting in the development of hatred for Americans, while staying in Mexico. Silko was personally subjected to the ill treatment while attempting to move across the border, and realized that all individuals moving across the border were subjected to similar actions. Sometimes, the treatment was worse, as the officers might have beaten them. The experience through which Silko underwent leads to the conclusion that the patrols cannot stop the migration since this is a natural event. For Biss, however, the experience was different and was based on the observation of lifestyles of the Mexican people. This resulted in a retaliation act by hating Americans for mistreating the Mexican people.

But among the three battling feelings, fear is the greatest and most powerful one in Angela’s life. Angela’s family’s act, the high wire pyramid, creates circumstances for all three of these themes. The very delicate balance of the act requires great trust between each member of the family... In...

.... The printer suddenly reached down and grabbed Tommy’s hand with the gold coin. “Congratulations, son,” he said in the same dead tone he’d used in everything he said, “you are my newest apprentice for the price of that gold coin.” Without a chance to say another word, Tommy found himself relieved of the coin in his hand and whisked into the household of the printer. He couldn’t believe his luck! He’d finally found a family, as easy as that, delivered to him by the magic of the fairies. His joy was to be short-lived though, as he discovered his new bed was nothing more than a pile of old dusty blankets that Mrs. Conners, the printer’s wife, hadn’t taken the trouble to air out yet. This pile was stuck in the...

...Buddhism Buddhism According to Davis (2007), Buddhism traces its origin almost 2500 years ago from Siddhartha Gautama popularly known as Buddha, which means the awakened one in Sanskrit. For Buddhists, the teachings of Buddha are Dharma. According to Davis (2007), Dharma “is the spiritual path, a roadmap to enlightenment.” On the other hand, the Dharma is crucial since it leads individuals out of Samsara, which is the unrelenting suffering in life that human beings experience. In effect, individuals can only transcend the Samsara by following the Dharma. In their worldview, Buddhists view Buddha as a man whom they take refuge in while they considered Dharma a guide and not a dogma (Davis, 2007). In addition, Buddhism worldview... Buddhism...
