In this light, it is very important that a lot of factors be taken into consideration when designing websites for professional and business purposes. In this paper, the official website of the National Football League (NFL) is subjected to professional critique. The critique emphasizes the design strategies used in the website, and the impact that this has on users and the relevance it carries to the NFL as a professional body. As part of the critique, there shall be three major areas and themes of emphasis.
These are the audience and purpose, organisation and hierarchy of information, and values and lifestyle reflected by the website. Eventually, the website will be graded for its design strategy quality. The audience in the case of the NFL website refers to the team fans who would go to the website to pick up information about the game and the teams. The purpose also refers to the need to keep audience updated with events, news and stories within the league. In the design of websites, there are a number of factors that must be considered for audience and purpose.
First, the need to consider individual differences and interest is very important (Oleksy 31). In this sense, the website puts up a successful design that has several entries ranging from fantasies, scores, videos, standings, stats and others. This way, the different interests of audience are adequately catered for. Nielsen and Tahir also mentioned that modern website design must focus on interactivity as a means of using the website to serve the social networking needs of the public (43). This is because of the important place of social media networking and the need for people across the globe to link up with one another.
