Your full full April 04, Answer Characteristics of Learned Helplessness: Sources: ‘A House behind the Weeping Cherry’ and ‘A Good Fall’The characteristics of learned helplessness in this story include inability to move away from the workplace, inability to pay the rent alone, and working unwillingly to pay back the debt. The first two of these learned helplessness issues in this story were with Wanren who disliked the business of prostitution and did not like to live with people involved in this business.

However, he had to live with them because he could not afford to pay the rent alone or move to some distant place. The third issue was with Huong who was working as a prostitute unwillingly because she had to pay back the debt to the gangster who brought her to China. Summing it up, lack of opportunities has been found as a key learned helplessness issue that forces people to compromise. In ‘A Good Fall’, the characteristic of learned helplessness is the connection of Chinese immigrants and their children with their homeland.

They have to work for shameful professions just to earn money.Answer 2:Characteristics of the Third Eye:1. In the CrossfireIf we read the story, ‘In the Crossfire’, we get to know that the third eye of Tian Chu helps him get the sense of what might be the reason behind what is happening in reality. The third eye helps him understand the hidden and actual aspects of many situations. The third eye also makes the mind and sense of Tian Chu to work together, as well as helps in keeping a balance between his wife and that of his mother.

The third eye also helps him in knowing that his mother has no bad intentions behind whatever she apparently tends to be doing, rather she has just a bit of mean type personality. He also gets to know that her mother develops friendship with poor Shulan, another character of the story, just because she loves her son. Summing it up, the third eye helps a person understand the reasoning behind whatever happens in front of us and it happens with Tian Chu in the story.
