number Book review for Ishmael by Daniel Quinn In chapters 11 to 13 of the book the starts to elaborate the concept of mythology and the effects it has on ethics by providing relevant examples. In an interesting way, he relates this major concept to its ability to bring about sustainability. It is brought out in a better way by the use of Socratic dialogue within the text. The technique makes it possible for the reader to get more information from the story teller, especially as he provides a good relation of culture with the element of mythology.
Thus, it makes the reader to reflect on the ways that he lives his life and questions himself on how the functions in the society are. This is in the way that it provides a clear explanation of why activities and especially the negative ones such as bribe are on the increase despite those who participate in them being aware of this fact (126). With this it comes out as an incredible book in the way that Ishmael creates a strong impact on readers. However, he fails to give a fair part of the story by using Ishmael who is a gorilla to narrate the story, which revolves around the oppression by human beings.
With this, he does not provide the account of the other party who is the human being. The account can thus be considered to be biased hence the confusion in “Im trying to figure out what this has to do with saving the world" (126).How can you rate this review? It is very insightful especially in the provision of information about the book chapters. However, it should have included more examples to make the reader understand the basics of the text. Obtaining the book will be necessary in order to understand its contents better.
Book review for Interpreter of maladies by Jhumpar LaniriIn this book, the author attempts to bring out the idea of failure in marriage. However, she does not take the usual concept to address it but completely explains it in a new way. She also provides an idea that most couples will find helpful in dealing with their relationships.I like the way with which the author reveals both the easy and challenging aspects of marriages and family (4). She features the different types of marriages to show that whichever the origin of the agreement, such relationships are composed of similar circumstances.
Therefore, it is a proper thing that the author highlights such marriages like those that are rushed into, arranged, invaded, and exhausted and those that are betrayed. However, the main point that I do not agree with is the fact that she does not relate the happenings in marriage to love but on the artfulness of the spouse. I do not agree with this since love is a vital component in a marriage. The success or failure therefore of a marriage does not depend on the skill or art of the spouse but on the degree of love available.
Nonetheless, with the issue of rebirth to learn a little bit extra about the other person in the relationship, she brings out a new concept about the entire relationship (7).Did you find this review helpful to you? This review was extremely insightful as it reveals the unique approach that the writer takes in presenting the issue of failure in marriages. It is encouraging that a solution is also presented. Thus, I have marked the book as a must read in order to find out more about these topics.
