The employees are supposed to interact with other researchers to learn about the organization's strategic issues. The writer states that the HRD is supposed to realize that the policies outlined should be successful. They are also supposed to question the evidence and reasoning that supports such solutions. However, the writer emphasizes that HRD is expensive for any organization, and in most cases; the return on investment aspect is not immediately discernible. It is the job of the executives to change the perspective to ensure that individuals focus on the reliability of the implemented programs.

The author discusses diversity in cultures and the effects of informal learning in workplaces. Informal learning is an important manner of acquiring knowledge and skills in a workplace. The author differentiates informal learning as on-the-job training while formal is learning in an enclosed area such as a classroom. From the article, formal learning is important although informal learning has captured the attention of many people in the workplace. This is based on cultural diversity and its effect on an individual’s culture. Organizations view cultural diversity differently and it has an impact on adult learners.
