Therefore, Wade Allison’s contributions in the support of the massive use of nuclear power should be disregarded since no one knows when the use of such nuclear power may be uncontrolled. Allison clearly states notes the health concerns of nuclear radiation; however, he diminishes this fact and narrows it down to small quantity of admission like in the case of X-ray examinations. It is true that small amounts of absorption of radiation into the body are less harmful to the body. Nonetheless, he must have considered that erection of the nuclear power plants may emit such small radiation, but constantly. In other words, medically administered radiations are usually monitored and controlled and are never continuous; thus, they have minimal effect to the human health (Jha and Boseley 02). Nonetheless, it is worth noting that small amount of radiation is never highly dangerous to humanity and the environment, but cumulative small amounts per power plant will lead to enormous amounts of nuclear particles into the environment that cannot be tolerated by the human body thereby leading to devastating global health problems (Jha and Boseley 02). Reading from the Allison’s understanding of the history of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, he should have noted that massive emission of nuclear related particles or radiation into the environment usually have long and dangerous effects to the present and generation after generation. Therefore, despite the accident or the intentional enormous release of nuclear radiation into the environment, humanity will suffer a great deal, effects that will be passed to generations to come (Glasstone and Dolan 138). Despite Allison’s argument that human body can protect itself from the chemical and radiological attacks, he should have noted that such human body protection mechanisms do not take effects immediately when they are subjected to such attacks or radiations (Jha and Boseley 02). The human body usually tends to go mutational processes where the attacked group is affected immensely as the effect reduces through generations. As he notes, "The ability to repair damage and replace cells, we discovered in the last 50 years, show how radiation doesnt cause damage except under extreme circumstances (Jha and Boseley 02)." This may seems a small time but it’s an entire life cycle of a human being. It seems that Allison is comfortable with the suffering of humanity. Moreover, this period will never be 50 years anymore, but longer since there will be constant release of the same radiation into the environment; thus, being absorbed by the already radiation affected body (Jha and Boseley 02). Therefore, there will be continued interference of human DNA among other effects including environmental effects. The nuclear power should be minimized to the lowest levels possible since as had been noted some people including organizations or groupings may use the same platform to produce nuclear weapon. For instance, such weapons may also be linked into the hands or wrong people including terror groups. When these groups use these weapons on humanity, enormous effects will be the aftermath. Properties will be lost as well as life (Giacomoni 172). Moreover, the radiation effects will remain in the environment for long time with equal health effects to humanity and livestock. In addition, once nuclear power is globalized, it would be difficult for the global leaderships to monitor and control its other extraneous uses and this may lead to other effects that the world had never anticipated. Despite not knowing the lowest level of radiation possible that is best for human body or what might be referred to the recommended dosage, radiation should be kept at its lowest possible levels. Notably, there are numerous several means through which radiation is usually rendered into the environment (Hatanaka 126). Therefore, if these means are not well established or known, it would be rather advantageous to keep humanity safe and healthy but not using or initiating other means that the amount of radiation will be increased into the environment (Giacomoni 221). In other words, it would be advisable for human being and the environment to be exposed to radiation in cases that they can never avoid including medical diagnosis that require the use of radiation, but never to increase the vulnerability of humanity and the environment to the high or high dosage of radiation by erecting numerous power plants (Jha and Boseley 02). Allison seemed to have concentrated much on the health effects of radiation and the level of radiation that could lead to these health concerns. However, after analyzing the health concerns, he should have concentrated as well on what constitutes to the increased environmental accumulation of nuclear radiation particles. Radiation is never smelled, touched, or seen; moreover, at some points they may leak without the radiologists working at this nuclear power plants acknowledging such leakages. This situation will lead to increased radiation into the environment; thus, leading to increased levels of radiation that will affect humanity immensely. It is worth concluding that it is never irrational fear on the use of nuclear power that hinders it’s over exploitation to the benefits of nations. Notable, free use of nuclear power may lead to other devastating global effects; therefore, such fears must just remain in play. Excessive use of nuclear power will increase the amount of radiation into the atmosphere that will lead to radiation related diseases including alteration of DNA leading to mutation of cells among other tissues thereby resulting into cancer. Additionally, some nations may take advantage of nuclear power projects and initiate other harmful projects including manufacturing of nuclear weapons (Jha and Boseley 02). Moreover, there may be leakage in nuclear plants that may release enormous amount of radiation into the environment. All these actions are all harmful to humanity and environment among other lives. Notably, enormous release of radiation to the environment will have immediate devastating effects as well as long lasting effects that will affect generation and this can be related to the Second World War use of nuclear weapon to China and Japan; the Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Therefore, if such irrational fears highlighted by Allison can save the environment and its constituents to levels of radiation, the global leadership must maintain such fears and heighten the same whenever possible (Hatanaka 188). In addition, Allison noted that human body can sustain radiation through internal body mechanisms; however, he did not contribute on the effects of such mechanisms when the same radiation is kept at low levels but at a constant rate of admission. Furthermore, he did not peg such effects on plants and animals that may be food products to humanity (Jha and Boseley 02). Notably, no small amount of radiation that is healthy to humanity and the environment. Therefore, it would be advisable to maintain radiation at its lowest level possible; hence, it would be advisable to control and discourage the means that may increase the release of radiation into the environment in this case, the intensive use of nuclear power.
